Ok, now it has sunk in, no longer are we a 'selling club' due to a need to balance the books. Which, quite frankly is difficult to comprehend in itself. Anyway, with the loan market opening up in a week or so who is on Darrell's wish list? I am sure the new chairman has been told that promotion this season is pretty high up the to do list, and it would be one less season in the basement. It's a careful balancing act bringing in big names as the delicate balance of the team has to be maintained. I think Liam Lawrence may have upset the applecart already. Thoughts???

Big names, really! Expect we will only bring someone who fits the ethics of the team and is beer than what we have.
Not expecting marquee signings.

it seems as if people are falling over themselves to join the bandwagon in slagging liam lawrence off without giving him a fair chance. in the 2nd half v morecombe i saw a player almost always getting the ball down and finding a blue shirt and linking up with lee brown in a similar way to monkhouse last season so i dont get the hate lawrence stuff?

I read somewhere that clubs entering the football league (or re-entering in our case) are exempt from the FFP ruling which limits clubs in wages they can offer? I guess that's why the likes of Crawley and Fleetwood came in and then got promoted again before hitting problems? If this is the case shouldn't we be pushing the boat our with loans and really go for it next season on the playing side?

Are we exempt from the FFP? I heard we would be but only for 2 years/seasons? Wow, 2 seasons? Surely that cannot be right! Are you sure? What is to stop teams getting relegated then to the National League to then spend big and go up the leagues without FFP getting in their way then? EDIT: Answering my own question, I presume the risk involved in getting relegated to the National League is a massive risk in itself because it wont be that easy, even if you spend big down there, to go straight back up like we did. Doesnt happen that often does it!

Not sure, like I said it was only something I read (on another forum), would be good for someone with more knowledge than myself to confirm if this is true?
You'd have thought if a club had the means to splash out they would do it in avoiding relegation as nobody can really want that. Last season the FFP wasn't an issue with non-leaguers, but we still had to tighten our own belts.
I guess if it is true we would still be backed by decent crowds to carry on the momentum somewhat, unlike Fleetwood and Crawley.
It all leads back one important thing, having a new all purpose stadium to move us forward.

Thank you for this information gashead1979. You said you read this on another forum, is that gaschat? I noticed they have a thread about FFP but seems to be mixed views. If it is not from that forum, do you have a link to where ever you seen it? Thank you.

I gather we are not allowed to spend more than 55% of turnover on players wages.
FFP Rules
As the budget was set at just under £1m and the turnover is somewhere in the region of £3.6+m (June 2015 figure), there must be plenty of scope for the last 14 weeks of this season.
I am not suggesting we splash the cash, as I always say "football supporters are very good at spending other peoples money".

But apparently the 55% wont apply as we are not under the FFP yet, going by gashead1979 comments above?

I think people will be disappointed if they expected to splash the cash in the summer. I don't think it's DC's preferred method and we don't want to go back to having a team full of mercenaries. The evolution not revolution comment by the new owners suggests steady investment rather than throwing money at the club.

I think I believe that from the Football League as opposed to what someone thinks, with all due respect.

The link doesnt say anything about promoted or relegated clubs, if they are exempt or not. I think I am getting more confused now haha.

I don't think there is anything wrong with paying money for quality players, in terms of transfer fee, wages or both.
For example Gary Roberts joined Portsmouth and dropped down a league to do it. Obviously hard cash would have been a big factor in that, but he's still a flippin' good player at this level which they wouldn't have otherwise.
I think when buying players each has to be looked at on its own merit.
If the FFP is more relaxed in the first 2 seasons then we would be stupid not to take advantage.

Ah, not606. I forgot about that place. The information in that thread makes sense. Apparently no FFP rules in this season for us as we are a promoted club and 75% of our turnover next season if we are still in League 2. That is interesting if that is true of course. I see that place is still quiet. Too quiet for me to be honest. Thank you again gashead1979.
