Thank you Irish. I really do not want to go over old ground, life moves on etc. However I will say that the Current Affairs section caused us so many problems. At the time I was running my own business (a pub) but had certain emails and messages marked as notify immediately (basically emails from the host of the forum and all reported posts). As you can imagine most of the reports came on a Saturday night (not good for the trade I was in). The worst bit was though when links were given to other sites that the hosts did not agree with. I miss Basel (we first met at the mem when playing that other lot in the area final). Basel if you do read this, join up and send me a PM. The admin on here do the best job we can things have calmed down a bit, but in ways I think that is good. We do not get many fans from other clubs on trying to wind us up but the ones that do take the time to come on here are usually giving us advice. Also add to the fact that forums in themselves are actually used a lot less as most have migrated to other forms of social messaging (twitter, facebook etc). A few posters have said about joining up with the other forum, that would be up to the members of the forum. I think that would not be the right thing to do, I and others tried hard to make this a united forum (when the OF closed) but it did not work. Perhaps it is a bit like radio one and two (gaschat is radio one) where we all have moved on a bit but every now and again we dip our feet back into the youthful pond that is radio one (if that makes sense). I'd have to vote no to that. gaschat started up iirc because some who tried this one when the official one was shut down didn't like it here. It wasn't to their taste which is fair enough. Equally gaschat isn't to my taste. Leave things as they are. Folk can use whichever they prefer, or both if they want. Or neither. I must say thank you once again because of you I had that great evening with Basel.

I am still in contact with Basel, and when he initially left I seem to remember him saying to me that he was getting rid of his TV and computer and 'going back to basics'. However, I did see him in a pub a while back and he was using a laptop- so maybe he does view here occasionally!
Basel was a colourful poster on here, but like most people I have met on here, when you meet face to face, they are just fairly normal decent human beings. Except Dido of course, he's a total f**king fruitcake.

Oh you're very welcome Oxon. That was a night not to be missed! Rex, I agree, Basel is a lovely chap. I often wished people he had disputes with on here would meet up with him because I'm sure in real life they'd have got on well.

Try a bit of 6 music? It's as necessary as oxygen in our house, keeps the sanity levels going. Keaveny, Ratcliffe, Maconie, Lamacq, Garvey, proper job

In a period "in between jobs" I would have to say that 6music and gasheads.org has helped keep my sanity (though in itself that is a debatable statement). Long may both continue.

I agree that 6 music is a great station. The closest rival for the target age/audience seems to me to be Absolute Radio, but it's rubbish since it plays an endless cycle of REM, U2 and Coldplay.

Looking at the posts on here I would say that this forum is alive and well and superbly moderated by the posters themselves rather than the need for moderators locking threads and banning people.
The courtroom thread has been superb and special thanks to those who went to the hearing and found time to report back.

Meanwhile, the court room thread on the other forum shows things can get as bad as ever over there!!

I only knew of Basel through the old forum but enjoyed his posts. Glad to say we got to finally meet at an away day local to myself, Doncaster if I remember rightly. Smashing chap
