So the team returns to pre season today and with the first match only a week or so away it looks like (going on DC's words) we will have a few trialists joining the ranks.
These are the three trialists we have (that we know) on board so far.
Gianni Kapika (Born in Congo) - Left winger/forward - Bath City, Clevedon, Frome
Pierce Mitchell - Defender - Bristol City
Lewis Taaffe - attacking midfielder (Right sided?) - Concorde Rangers
Feel free to pass your judgement over these players and add any other information you now about them or any other potential trialists.

Only saw Kapika a couple of times for Clevedon, I'd be surprised if he makes the grade but best of luck to him.

Do you know if those stats are correct? If so he has only played 30 games in 3 seasons! So either he has had injury problems, or he couldn't get in the teams at a lower level.

He had a break from football for one year apparently. Highly rated by those down at Frome and still only 20 years old. Could be a rough diamond that just needs a bit of a polish. I guess that is the beauty of giving a trial to a player.

There are lots of players that have the skill set to make it but it's if when they get the chance to train full time they prove they are fit enough. There's not a whole lot of difference between a steady conference player and a very good Southern League player it's more to do with how they cope in the last twenty minutes of games.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think they're correct. He was also dual-registered with Bath, but I don't remembering him playing much there either.

People seem to forget as well sometimes being a semi-pro footballer life can get in the way of your football and you have to step back. I've known plenty of players that couldn't commit to every Saturday and Tuesday nights. Towards the end of the season a lot of teams are playing two midweek matches as well.

Well according to that site he has only got a right foot. PS - according to EP he is a left winger. So now I am really confused!

When he was younger he was one if the best youngsters in Bristol, was very quick bristol City signed him from rovers supporters and when he was there I thought he would become a very good player but he didn't progress he used to score for fun when he was played up front but haven't seen him for a couple if years now

The stand out player for Clevedon on those occasions was Jordan Walker, if he could stay injury free he'd be one hell of a player. Ex-City, Clevedon & Mangotsfield, now at Weston.

Walker did OK for Weston, nothing special from what I heard. I wonder why Kapika took some time out of the game?

As I said the problem with Walker is he's done both ACL's if he'd stayed injury free he'd still be at City. Not sure why Kapika took some time out, I wouldn't put it past having to work on Saturdays though.

Where has it been mentioned that Kapika was one of the trialists? Read about Mitchell & Taaffe earlier in the summer, didn't know that anymore of the names had been made public.

DC's comments today.
“I have ten triallists in at the moment and the game against Cirencester next week will mean I am able to give a number of them a run out. I’ll then be able to make a decision as to whether or not I want to take any of them on"
