Neal trotman and dan Thompson on trial along with the other two players we have had on trial. Neal is a defender with a lot of experience. Played nearly 100 games for Chesterfield and Plymouth in past two seasons. Dan is a 20 year old striker who was on Portsmouth's books. Eh...the post above is mine I signed in on my mobile and for some reason my user name changed to 'rovers'

Wasn't it Neal Trotman who scored against us at The Mem even though the ball had already gone out?

I noticed Neal Trotman had just finish a trial at Cheltenham, had a feeling he might come to us. Big strong centre half, good age at 27, plenty of FL experience, played 48 times for Plymouth last season so fitness is good. Would be a very decent signing, as we need some cover at centre half which will allow Lockyer to rotate into midfield more often. Dan Thompson sounds like quick powerful targetman who was highly rated a few seasons ago, hope they do well and we can offer them something.

Had to look Thompson up. He spent 2013 at Bognor Regis, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Hayes &Yeading before going back to Bognor Regis this year. He scored 6 goals in 30 apps (numbers from wiki).

Trotman would be a really good signing on paper. Lots of FL experience, and keeps Parkes/McChrystal on their toes to say the least. A little worried that he fits the 'journeyman' tag though.

Thompson certainly doesnt look prolific, but stranger things have happened! Im all for giving people a chance to prove themselves, may well be one for the future.

Trotman was a half a million pounds player not long ago (not that previous transfer fees mean very much - Virgo anyone?). Will be interested to see how he gets on because he does have some excellent experience under his belt (226 games, 14 goals).

Just finished a season playing in a top 10 team where he made 48 appearances so is obviously fit and healthy at the moment. The key thing next season is having at least 8 or 9 players in the squad who are 50 game a season men, with the budget so small there isn't going to be cash for loan deals to cover several injured players. Trotman would add that height and strength that people were worried about and when playing 3 at the back, Trotman, Parkes & Macca are going to be a handful in both boxes at set pieces.

Also allows Lockyer to move into his central midfield role!

Potentially signing fit and healthy players, eh? Whatever next, dare I ask? But seriously it will make for a pleasant change, if we can pull it off of course, particularly after some of our more recent signings catastrophes. It should be a football club prerequisite of course, to sign fit and healthy players, but we are talking about BRFC here.

Well good on Brian Hughes for giving the kid a mention. Hopefully he'll do well with us and should he get transferred from us Cirencester should get some cash like we did with Lambert. good luck to the kid, I hope he does well. This is the kind of local product we should be after.

On the BEP website:
Clarke is unlikely to extend the stay of triallist Dan Thompson, who replaced Brunt during the first-half at Huish Park, and may be struggling to find a place for central defender Neal Trotman within a reduced playing budget.
Ryan Higgins, however, could be in line to secure a permenent deal if Michael Smith completes a move to Peterborough United as expected later this week.
No news on Mitchell though.

I thought Thompson done well last night. We are still short of 3/4 players and I dont think Gosling,Taylor or Mansell are the answers. Not in that formation anyway. Taylor especially is way too static and lightweight.

Why waste Trotman's time if we can't afford him anyway, or has DC turned his attention to Turvey??
