Is that if we do not sign a decent proven striker we are not going anywhere, and by that I mean one that we have to pay for and not one we get on a free or a loan signing.I cannot think of one striker that we have ever had at this club that has scored a decent amount of goals that we have got for nothing (unless homegrown). If as I suspect the funds are not available then resign yourself to a mid table finish this season.I have looked very closely at the strikers we have at this club at the moment and none of them are anything like good enough to take us to the next level.

I can't work out if this is a positive post or a negative one. On one hand the majority of the post is talking about our need for a striker which would suggest negative but then ends it with a prediction of midtable obscurity which I don't think would be a bad finish for our first season back in this league.

Tell us how much Jason Roberts/Jamie Cureton/... cost, please, Trunky. £250k and £200k are the figures I remember being published. Who knows how accurate they were though!?

Paul Randall,Archie Stephens,Graham Withey..did we pay anything for any of them ? £2,000 for Randall from Glastonbury, £40,000 for Stephens from Melksham and I am not sure about Withey but as he only ever scored 10 goals for the Rovers he was hardly prolific.

And the list of available strikers available that would come is how long.
We need goals from other places on the pitch, how many have come from midfield this season?

Given we're clearly skint at present does anybody seriously think NH is going to pay a fee for a striker? Having said that Pompey picked up Tubbs on a free so clearly strikers are out there if we can afford the wages.

Withey scored 10 in 22 appearances !..seems fairly prolific to me..I would settle for that now, remember that he was playing in a higher division. Randall,£2000,the biggest bargain ever remembering that his goal at Hull last day of season kept Rovers in the old 2nd division.
Surely with the financial state of Rovers now they cant buy anyone successful, other clubs would be able to pay more, more scouting in non league and foreign leagues would be more likely to find someone perhaps ?.

Having said that Pompey picked up Tubbs on a free so clearly strikers are out there if we can afford the wages. Why would we be ''skint''? Crowds held up very well last season, remarkable really considering how few teams brought a reasonable number of supporters with them, then we had play offs and Wembley, there must be a lot more cash in the bank than we expected.

Surely you of all posters can't have overlooked the Wonga loan which is costing us £30K a month in interest payments alone and, should we lose the Appeal, we have to somehow starting paying down the capital we have borrowed. £30k per month would probably pay for 3 or 4 top quaility Div 2 players. We were also told relegation would cost £1m whether promotion lessened that loss is that clear yet.

Will Hoskins for me did very well for us in a struggling side and cost nothing. A proven goalscorer
