just listening to it now, thinking he's coming across well
interesting that he expresses confidence about UWE, 'lot of work going on behind the scenes', 'discussions going on with Sainsbury's and potentially a court hearing'

'a lot of chancers throw their hat in the ring if you let it be known that you are looking for investment'
going through a process of looking at people - not one particular group - Sexbloke will be looking to help them going forward with this, accessing network of sporting contacts, including potential investors
Sainsbury's appeal an important aspect, but not the only possible outcome. All sorts of things between a complete loss and a complete success he'd imagine
location of the stadium, parking, 2 stations nearby, will allow the club to move to the next level
appeal to be heard 2nd November (I think)
DC says he has no funds, NH says he has, Sexbloke not yet attended a 'formal' board meeting and not in a position to comment on that yet

Thanks AMPG. It took me over 4 hours to get to the game from Cheshire yesterday , so wasn't in the Radio Bristol area when it was on. I can be guilty of over-analysing how people speak on the radio, and looking for too much meaning in every choice of word, or in every hesitation. But I can't help noticing the word " potentially" in the phrase " potentially a court hearing". Combine that with "discussions ongoing with Sainsbury's" and the reference, with respect to the outcome, to "possible steps between a complete loss and a complete success"; does it suggest that they might be working towards a compromise settlement? I wasn't aware that there was a potential hearing, I thought it was a certainty and we were only waiting to know the date. Also, "going through a process of looking at people - not one particular group". It sounded to me as though he meant that nobody - other than 'chancers' - had so far come forward, and in the event that any credible group should come forward, he would advise the BOD on applying a process to evaluate them. As I say, I might be over-analysing, and CS himself said that he's not been deeply involved so far...and might have chosen other words if he had had the luxury - as I have - of writing, instead of speaking on the radio.

Very good interview, sounded very positive. Saying things we all have been saying about the UWE being a fantastic opportunity and putting a bit more hope into my mind that we may get there in the end.
Very sorry to hear the sad news about his wife.
Good luck at the Rovers.

I think that's logical, although I didn't think that when I heard it. At the time, I was thinking that he was deliberately sticking to generalities - though I didn't think he was being in any way misleading

I think he spoke of what he knew and not what he didn't know. Unlike some people. I think he will be an asset going forward.

Who are you, his mother, his father, Steve Landsdown or perhaps all three I know that this is a very sensitive subject but, given CS's personal problems, doesn't it seem strange that he was helped out by his Rovers contacts rather than by his ex-colleagues at City? I can only presume that there was some sort of rift at some stage with ex-Tote Ender Mr Stephen Lansdown... But, as I say, probably not a good idea to mix forum gossip with Colin's personal problems.

'a lot of chancers throw their hat in the ring if you let it be known that you are looking for investment' Heaven forbid that anyone would sit on the sidelines watching the club struggle then decide that 'the time is right' to get involved when they see a huge potential pay day with a new stadium.

You sense he took the rap for the AV failure which I assume cost SL millions, odd that our BoD now brings him to help progress the UWE!! As far as having plenty of contacts given AV was surely being financed by SL what contacts in football does he have who can invest millions in the UWE project?

Bristol Rovers: Colin Sextone confident of new stadium New Bristol Rovers non-executive director Colin Sextone says he is still confident a new stadium will be built.
The League Two club are involved in a legal appeal with Sainsbury's over a deal to buy their Memorial Stadium.
That deal would allow them to move to a new 21,700-seat stadium but despite losing the original court case, Sextone is still confident it will happen.
"There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, which for obvious reasons cannot be disclosed," he said.
"The UWE (University of the West of England) site is still very much there, the discussions are ongoing with Sainsbury's and potentially a court hearing, even outside that there is every chance something could happen.
"Looking at the development site and the location of the new stadium it would put them on a different level."
Sextone also said a potential takeover of the club could also negate the need to sell to Sainsbury's. In July Bristol Rovers denied the club has been sold.
"There are lots of things bubbling under, a takeover could potentially be one," he said.
"It is no secret the board and Nick (Higgs) are looking for other investors to come in. He would only bring other investors in if they can take the club to another level. There is no one particular group, it's an ongoing process."
The former Bristol City chairman also believes moving to a new ground on the outskirts of the city will hugely boost the club.
"Rovers have had a difficult time and it is amazing that the fanbase has stuck together and that fills you with hope going forward," Sexstone added.
"If they can get that new stadium, some people have some doubt but I feel quite confident about it. It will take them to another level and they can be another strong club in the city.
"Bristol is a big city of 1.4m in greater Bristol. There is room for two very successful clubs, Manchester is a great example.
"New stadiums take clubs to another level and the location of that new stadium is just fantastic, next to a motorway, two stations right there, lots of parking and 30,000 students on your doorstep.
"If you can't built a successful club with that infrastructure, you have to question yourself. That is why the new stadium is so important."
