My favourite was all the 'you have no right to question him unless you can afford to buy the club' crap. He is a Gas head, you have to be to have put up with the on field shenanigans. He knows what he is doing............ I hope, as the alternative doesn't bare thinking about Well, maybe he does. Reminds me of that old saying -"Hope springs eternal". But for many of us long suffering fans of Rovers we've been promised a mythical pot of gold at the end of a mythical rainbow for time in memorial. The day I see unicorns prancing up and down the Gloucester Road then maybe, just maybe I might start believing a stadium and a good set of owners of the club are about to move in. I won't hold my breath though!

If i was Nick Higgs i would sell the mem to the UWE for housing/student flats and use then use the money to buy into the stadium on 50/50 deal with the UWE. That's assuming that the UWE need student accomadation and that Higgs isn't just looking to clear his debts and run. I'm not sure that UWE would be able to be a 50% share holder in a private limited company and that is if they wanted to in the first place. I expect after witnessing recent events they would stand well clear. There is nothing to stop a University taking part of a PLC or creating one of their own, there are plenty of examples of this. Most universities are set up as charities, but can then hive off private companies in linked ventures, e.g. in the form of a spin out company, in which the university retain an equity stake. Whether they woud want to do that with Roves remains to be seen.

Which scenario isn't happening? The University building any form of stadium themselves. I don't believe you. This is just another of your social experiments............................isn't it?

I've already quashed it, this thread should have been locked years ago.

"Years ago" it only started at the weekend?
If the Gazette had quoted names in their article I'd would have accepted it was BS, but who are these "spokesman" they've spoken to, do they really the full picture if high level talks are taking place??

I've already quashed it, this thread should have been locked years ago. Maybe years of Blair and Alistair Campbell make me try to see things that don't exist, but that statement doesn't ''quash'' anything. Does that say that a prelinimary discussion hasn't taken place? And reading it again, what exactly is being said? ''while the existing consent is still in place we have no received', the first half is present tense, the 2nd half past tense, it doesn't actually make any sense. Who is this mystery ''spokewoman'' and what an odd turn of phrase, they are unaware of a proposal to build their own stadium. If there is no plan just come out and say so clearly, how can you be unaware of something that you aren't planning to do? This sounds like someone from within UWE just saying that she herself isn't aware of a new plan? As someone on here used to like to say, when something doesn't make sense there's usually a very good reason.

I'll say this again. Why would a University want to build a stadium?

Vital actually stated that it did not know if UWE had spoken to Rovers about a reduced capacity stadium. Not the opposite as stated in this denial. LP, UWE have wanted a stadium built on their land for the last five years. Where have you been?

What if someone else paid for it , like Rovers were going to .... a venue management company? like say Icon Venues or whatever they were called

Chewy I'd give up if people want to grasp at rumours, that can logically be dismissed with a fag packet and a 5 minute brainstorming session then let them. When it becomes clear UWE won't be building a stadium (their Chancellor has said this) they'll be on here saying how they never believed a word of it.
