I'd be surprised if we sign Ajala as Torquay want a fee for him. Bodin will probably sign and if he does then he will probably be the last permanent addition. I think the loan market will be used for a right footed winger, and possibly a goalkeeper.

Don't agree with loans other than in emergencies. The summer is plenty of time to sign up the squad and IMO they should all be signed players. Whatever NH says the budget may not have changed now but would have been more if we had won the case. We are still three players short as there are too many unknowns in our squad at the moment and needed at least a few experienced at League 2 level players.

We can already field a whole team with FL experience.
We have a back 5 that will at least be in the top ten in L2, we have Easter, Harrison, Taylor, Lucas, Blisset and possibly Bodin upfront that should be more than adequate.
In CM we have Lines, Mansell, Sinclair, Clarke and if necessary Lockyer, while wide we have Monty, Gosling. Leadbitter and possibly Broom.
I think we probably only definitely need one more wide player plus a goalie depending on Puddy's injury and Preston's readiness.

Yep those are the FIFA rules that we'll all soon be forced to follow

Sorry shouldn't have used the word emergencies ,what I meant was that the start of the season the team should be made up of signed players and Loaned players other than a full season loan should only be available say after the 1st October or before that in an emergency.(emergency being insufficient players fit or no goalkeeper.)

Loan system did very well for us last season.

We certainly don't have sufficient wingers/wide players at present with only two on the books.

im hoping one of the wide trialists is good enough and that would make the squad about right for this level,,,19 with lucas and greenslade also pushing for a chance.

It appears to me,though I stand to be corrected that we have less players than we had last season and we now require 7 for the bench. There are also too many unknowns and IMO we are 3 EXPERIENCED players short and when I say experienced I mean players who are at least experienced in the level we are playing. With respect to everyone do you honestly think that the squad we had last season will be good enough to do well in this division? Montana and Lines are the only players signed with League experience. It genuinely worries me that we cannot attract a player such as Myrie Williams and would be interested to know what other clubs in this division are paying for players ie Yeovil,Exeter,Plymouth,Northampton,Oxford. Whilst I appreciate that we may have had an increased budget if the Court Case had gone our way, I really do wonder just how our budget compares. I get the feeling that DC is Managing under stricter purse strings than he makes out.

Steve, not only are you very good reviewer of football matters but you also don't over-hype the abilities of our squad. We are going to be playing in a higher league BUT AS OF NOW we don't look to have added any quality or experience that you can be confident about. p.s. remember Lines was already with us last season. I think DC has probably had a very minimal increase to his budget - Would be nice if someone at the club could clarify (approx) this.

I hope you are right with Bodin - looks good so far. On loans, DC's record was pretty good last season. It's a fact of football life, particularly from the Championship down, that loanees will feature in every side. It probably wouldnt be the case if the stupid transfer window rules didn't exist.

Too many loans and then it's hard for consistency - players coming and going.

OK, but DC did a great job of integrating the loanees he wanted to keep with the team - just look at Dawson, Lines and even Bell Baggie was chuffed to bits to be part of the set up at Wembley. Yet he is strong enough to let the loanees go if they don't suit his purposes (Martin, Cunnington, Wall, etc etc.) I'd agree that you should start the season with permanent signings for the first choice 11 and key cover. But in my view it is cost effective to bring in players on loan to fill in for injury or loss of form. On Rovers budget, we can't afford to have a massive squad of experienced, permanent pros.
