I could have sworn I logged onto a football forum. I obviously made a mistake and somehow ended up on a boring political forum..........

I'm glad you received excellent service KP. Unfortunately, my father didn't. He along with other elderly patients at a local hospital were basically ignored by the nurses as they were 'busy' chatting all the time. His neglect got so bad I physically picked him up from his bed (there was nothing of him) carried him to my car and took him to the RUH? What followed was a joke. The original hospital wanted a signature for him discharging himself. That's right. You might have thought they would ask how he was. So whatever you think, it's not all sweetness and light in our NHS hospitals. And sadly what made it worse was most of the staff could not understand him. Couldn't agree more.
Some of what can be done now by the medical profession is nothing short of miraculous, but there's a dark side to the NHS also.
My Mother arrived to visit my dyeing Father in hospital, he had fallen out of bed and was on the floor, wet.
When challenged the staff said that he had fallen from the bed more than once and they were too busy to keep putting him back in. But it was OK because they put a pillow on the floor next to him. The pillow was soaked through as well.
Only when threatened with what was happening being video recorded did they think it may be a good idea to fetch some side guards for the bed.
His care improved from then onwards, but why does it take a threat of exposing neglect to get people to take proper care of their patients? I know that you and I aren't the only people with similar stories.

I saw the other side of it too. My mum, unfortunately, had to be taken into care due to Alzheimer's and then a stroke. I won't go into it as its too long a story but it's one that is an horror story. Please believe me, I know the other side of this and you have my empathy and sympathy. I was then subject to an all out attack, by social services, in an attempt to gain mums house, to which they had no rights whatsoever. Pas I said, a very long story and bloody evil. So sorry about your Dad. I hope he is ok ? My Mum died. It was a constant and full on war.

Sorry but this has nothing to do with Rovers, and we do not have a political chat area anymore so I am now locking this thread.
