I assume that Bodin plays on the opposite side to Montano? Montano can play both sides.

Why people are so hung up on LDV and Dawson is beyond me. They showed flair but they aren't the only wingers out there. Montano has been playing his football in Colombia since leaving Oldham and appears to have done quite well out there. He was always fairly highly rated in L1 and I see no reason why he can't display his talents at Rovers. His past is irrelevant if the things he was accused of were not proven to be true, so like all new players let's give the lad a chance to show what he can do. Agree, I think people get a hang up about seeing a half decent loan player and signing someone else over them when they are seen to be 'available'
Not sure what has gone on with this lad in the past, but hope he turns out and does well for us. As long as there are no off the field 'distractions' whilst he is here all the better. If there are, I am sure they will be dealt with accordingly

I tried to find anything about Montano coming here on Oldham forums, but they're all very confusing and empty and all I could find was someone calling the charges Oldham filed against him "wrongful"

Watching the first minute or so of the video, he came across as a bit 'slow' to me too, but I thought he became noticeably more animated when he was asked about the way he played and went a little beyond offering the potted chunks of his CV that he'd been giving in response to the questions asked of him up until then. There were some indications of passion there, and that's never a bad sign. The 'I just want to get my head down and play football' comment sounded a bit shoehorned-in for our benefit, given that we know he's got a reputation to shake off, but it's for nothing that was ever proven so he's hardly FGR material yet, and I'll happily back him until he gives me good reason not to. He's sporting a shocking excuse for a beard though - what were you thinking, Darrell?

I think its worth having a little dig around and look at the other thing he might have been accused of in 2013 that was dropped! I think we should judge a player based on his behaviour and performances as a Bristol Rovers player. Actually, no I don't. I don't think anyone on here is qualified to judge a player. You can have an opinion, but that's it. Bollocks, I've been judging people on the internet for nearly 20 years now. I have a stack of indictments, orders, patents and warrants to get through. I have always been baffled that my judgements have hitherto gone entirely unheeded. I'm thinking about a career change at this stage - you just can't get decent bailiffs these days.

It's occurred to me that the more regrettable aspects of Montano's past could be a point in his favour for him these days to a manager, as long as a player's still got all his footballing skills in order. The only thing that his brushes with the law have proven is that he can go through some pretty unpleasant stuff and still come up smiling. That's got to take a bit of grit, self-belief and stamina, and in the absence of anything negative to see, perhaps that's what Clarke sees first and what forms part of Montano's appeal. We know nothing about the guy yet, but Clarke will and is close enough to see if the glass is not half-empty and is in fact pretty full. I think Clarke's earned our trust in his judgement now. Just a bit, anyway

The problem with this one is that there is a very damning video of the spot fixing allegation. The rape trial was a hung jury... both hardly glowing refrences of innocense. Oldham sacking him before any guilty verdict (and their comments afterwards) suggest they had plenty to go on.
I'm not saying we shouldn't get behind him, it could be a very good signing. It's just obvious why people aren't convinced by his clean record.

If you took out all the players in the football league who have had allegations made against them my guess would be at least one in every club. Meanwhile anyone else think the publics social media campaign against Ched Evans is wrong?

Listened to his interview and I'm liking the "I'm fast, like 1 on 1's, can cross & shoot plus can play down either flank and upfront"
Taking a bit of a gamble could pay off if he has been playing the equivalent of Div 1 football for the last 2 seasons.
If DC gets somebody similar for the other flank, Dawson?, we could have a very good attacking team next season.

If he signed for another club, what would you think, considering his history ? Even DC says he comes with a lot of baggage !

Me and you don't know one way or the other....... and we would also have to read a lot about it, but he is a very dodgy signing (in my opinion).

Usual suspects knowing better than the manager ..... Outraged at the signing.
Get behind him .... Could be the most exciting ball carrier since Muzzy !

Agreed. I can't think of such a poor reception for any new Rovers player, it seems as though he's starting off under some sort of cloud. But why, when we should surely all be delighted (and welcoming) to any new arrival. I hope that he's not reading too much of this. Lord help him if he doesn't get off to a flying start next season. Sacked by his former club, actually appeared in court on rape charges, hardly kicked a ball last season, do you expect posters to be over the moon with this signing, which sounds like another Balatna type signing when we all know LDV & Dawson are available. The whole point about 'actually appearing in court' is that you are either found guilty or not guilty, and in his case the charges were dropped so he was not guilty.
