Bad egg? Maybe but this shows that weather we do or don't want LDV & Dawson it appears we won't sign them. A bit of a strange one this but I just hope we haven't panicked with this need for a winger signing as DC is very particular when it comes to player recruitment! I wouldn't say panicky. Out of left field maybe. they must know something of the lad to take him on and feel he will offer something to the squad.

I can't see why this is an odd signing? He looks a good player with good experience. Granted, a couple of allegations (for which he wasn't charged) may have tarnished his reputation somewhat but we wanted a new winger and we've got one. Happy days!

Thing that worries me is when the player said "his agent contacted the club" it shows we haven't identified him or been monitoring him! Player wanted to move back to the uk probably for a better lifestyle first and foremost so I just hope he hasn't taken up too much of the wage bill

Welcome to the gas young man and good luck. I am not worried about his past, it is that the PAST. DC obviously wanted him, so happy with that.

When Oldham were made aware that he would be suing them for wrongful dismissal...
"However, should this go to court then we look forward to making public the various issues with Cristian that led to our decision to terminate his contract."

I think its worth having a little dig around and look at the other thing he might have been accused of in 2013 that was dropped! Agreed. I can't think of such a poor reception for any new Rovers player, it seems as though he's starting off under some sort of cloud. But why, when we should surely all be delighted (and welcoming) to any new arrival. I hope that he's not reading too much of this. Lord help him if he doesn't get off to a flying start next season.

Are we not crying out for a player with pace, who can beat the full back, create chances and score goals ? seems one or two on here are being greater than thou, and a little bit too sensitive. I for one welcome Cristian to BRFC, best of luck to you fella. UTG

Check list from what we want/need from a winger.
Has pace........................ Check Can take on his man............. Check Can cross....................... Check Can play left or right side..... Check Can score goals................. Check
Seems good to me!
Other requirements Experience...................... Involved in the youth set up at West ham - would have learned a lot. Has previously played League 1 & 2.
On paper, good signing says I.
Negative stuff from his past should be left there as not found guilty on anything. He has the right to be treated by us all as someone who is not guilty of what the allegations were so lets give him that right and respect too.

UTG Judging Cristian purely on his abilities on the pitch he appears to be a good signing for a newly-promoted League Two team, and I believe that if it weren't for his ''baggage'' we would all be absolutely delighted and patting the manager on the proverbial back for securing the players services for next season.

Baggage? Not guilty until proven otherwise I thought. There should be no reason for us to even take his 'baggage' into our thoughts. Its not as if this is a Lee Hughes or Ched Evans type of situation, who were found guilty. If you catch my drift.

Hopefully he will turn out to be the second best export to come out of Columbia Behind Balanta. Am I right?

That's exactly what I was attempting to say in my posts this afternoon, but you have put it so much better than I did. Let's concentrate on the football.

I think now is the time we need to trust DC; of course, he will not get every signing correct, who does ? We already have a very good core of players and Cristian, to me is a different type of player, one with quick feet and obvious skill. From what I have read about this fella he has not been found guility of diddly squat. TBA I am really looking forward to see how he goes in preseason, one thing is for sure, if he does not perform or misbehaves he will not be in the side.

Sacked by his former club, actually appeared in court on rape charges, hardly kicked a ball last season, do you expect posters to be over the moon with this signing, which sounds like another Balatna type signing when we all know LDV & Dawson are available.

Some are and some aren't ''over the moon,'' it's the nature of the beast. Equally I suspect that the shadow of LDV and Dawson may well hang over our new signing. But the fact is that he was signed by the manager, and they (for whatever reason) were not. I don't see that this should be used as a stick to beat him with, not that I'm suggesting that you are doing so.

Why people are so hung up on LDV and Dawson is beyond me. They showed flair but they aren't the only wingers out there.
Montano has been playing his football in Colombia since leaving Oldham and appears to have done quite well out there. He was always fairly highly rated in L1 and I see no reason why he can't display his talents at Rovers.
His past is irrelevant if the things he was accused of were not proven to be true, so like all new players let's give the lad a chance to show what he can do.

I assume that Bodin plays on the opposite side to Montano?
