Because some of us who are attached to a rugby club where our kids play have been called scum, thieves and a few choice words when all was revealed we were Gasheads, Karma does its job once again. And what has that got to do with Bristol rugby? Because their supporters are the ones who have been doing it, not just to me, but plenty of others, we stole the ground, tried to deface the memorial, been humiliated in front of a group of people on more the one occassion, the only thing I am sorry about is the long wait until September until the first training session when Rupert and Tarquin are going to get a face full of laughs. Not to mention the arrogance of the Bristol Sport RFC player being interviewed glowing about Bristol Sport on HTV West recently and the Bristol Sport football team who had recently won promotion apparently and how they were going to do the same, wife turned to me (and she isn't into sport that much) and said why doesn't he mention Rovers who had won the day before, won't be changing my mind on how I have been made to feel by the comments made on line about our fc over the past few years and the cheap cocky jibes thrown about at our club last year. As Bamber has pointed out, weasel face will just throw more money at them next year until he gets his way with Bristol Sport but for many of us to see them stopped in their tracks for another season is very satisfying.

Personally I am gutted that we lost tonight, and all those that believe that it is a good thing because of Lansdown are obtuse in my opinion. It does not matter who owns Bristol RFC. Would you stop supporting Rovers if Lansdown sold s**tty and bought us?? I understand that not all football fans follow rugby too and that is their loss, but you should remember that a massive number of Rovers fans also support the rugby and negative posts like this after a disasteous end to yet another season really winds me up. Just remember that however much you hate Lansdown, it is the fans that are hurting the most right now - in many cases the same fans that cheer on The Gas!

The same Lansdown who once said "no one will speak of Bristol Rovers in the future". Think there is some room for a bit of a dig at the man and his arrogant attitude. The fans will be gutted whatever we do or do not say. Nothing personal against them.

We wore our away kit which is red. Trust me i would be the first to kick off if our home jersey was red. bristol wear blue which is another reason to love them! I understand hating Lansdown as his comments about crushing Rovers were crass and outrageously cockish, but Steve Lansdown is not Bristol Rugby. Bristol Rugby is Bristol.

Think the scabby tax exile has set up that split. Trying to have it all. This would be the man who has already paid many many millions in tax into the system and who continues to create literally hundreds of jobs locally and whose company pays a massive sum anually in corporation tax? If you want to vent your spleen then maybe give to some thought to what exactly is going on when Switzerland based Lewis Hamilton starts waving a Union Flag around, Jenson Button, local boy from Frome made good, now a resident of Monaco did the same thing. Even Mo Farah is at it, he has applied for US citizenship, and that's after taking lottery funding to help him earlier in his career. If you want to be angry at someone there are plenty who should be further up the line than Lansdown.

Be fair. Mo Farah has trained in America for years as his coach is based there. Taking citizenship is surely just making life easier for him than getting a visa each time.

Rossinio most football fans aren't really big rugby fans and dare I say it vice versa. So I am sad for you but it is difficult to have sympathywith clubs in a sport who vote for a system that means you don't win a league when you do because of money. All sporting integrity ceases to exist.

He has advised HMRC that he intends to be resident in the USA for tax purposes. I totally get why he would want to train there, it's where alberto Salazar is based, and whether you like it or not, his roots in Africa make him a highly marketable brand in the States, but shouldn't he want to pay into the system that allowed him to arrive here as an 8 year old and supported him when he was starting out in his career? Him claiming that it's 'easier than getting a visa every time' holds about as much water as Lewis Hamilton wanting to move to Switzerland to 'get away from all the attention'. But he'll still turn up and open your supermarket or drive a 'reasonably priced car' around the Top Gear track, but it'll cost you!

Pretty obvious why - success for them means more money in the coffers at Ashton Gate. Plus without doubt for years Rovers helped them financially in terms of first buying 50% of the stadium for the same price as they were going to sell all of it to Amtrak for, then when they screwed up again we gave them decent terms as tenants and all we got in return was a load of abuse from Rugby "fans" and a stealth buyout from Franchise FC which Lansdown kept quite for a long period while they continued to take advantage of our hospitality.

Where did I say he didn't do any of the things you say he has done, where did I make any comment on flag waving F1 drivers. Just using his tax status to describe him (admittedly in a slightly derogatory fashion only because he is a sheeted). You should stick to my comments and not try to second guess what I may or may not think of tax exiles.

He has, for 10 years. But it's not as if he's moved to Switzerland for no reason other than tax, like Hamilton. He was spending months at a time away from the UK in America or Kenya. If you genuinely left the UK why would you continue to pay taxes here? It raises questions as to whether UK Athletics should pick a guy who doesn't live there but on tax grounds he's not moved just to avoid tax. I would apologise for thread hijack but since this is a thread in the Rovers section about a rugby team...

Oh dear, you decided to bring up the man's tax status and preface it with 'scabby'. maybe say what you actually mean, then there will be less room for confusion.

I support Bath Bath City? Obviously not. Otherwise I would have said Bath City. Like when people call us or City just - Bristol. We are not Bristol. Its Bristol Rovers or City. Bristol is a rugby club. Like Bath
