It might indeed be regarded as ironic, but the description of Malcolm Pearce's actions is factually correct. That might not have been a bad thing as they would have played in Bristol at The Mem.

I don't think GD trusted Malcom Pearce. Apart from a scheme to move Bristol to Oxford, he came quite close to merging Bristol with Bath at one point. Don't worry I don't think there were too many Bristol Rugby supporters who trusted Malcolm Pearce at the end either ! i used to work for him, and my boss certainly had some VERY interesting stories about what they used to get up to!

As the rugby equivalent of Rovers merging with City and playing at the Mem, I think that might well have been a minority view in both fan bases.

If he made a no strings attached offer to give us 30 million, most people would think he was a genuine bloke who actually cared about "bristol sport", but he isn't and he won't. How long have you known him? He once offered to pay 50% towards a new stadium and even put the first payment into a bank account to start the process. MB with respect do you really know this as fact about SL? Surely that would have ended up on the evening post and opened up a huge debate?? I would accept money from anyone, within reason, and through legitimate means if it meant the Gas getting the stadium we fans deserve, but if your right then whoever turned him down is a fool!!

Well if he did there would have been strings attached and without knowing what they were it is impossible to say whether turning such an offer down was foolish or not.

No strings and it was in the public domain. Nobody turned him down, it was the Easter Compton project which collapsed due to the environmental agency objecting.

You've obviously had a similar problem to me then. I put down on my application form which I completed on the plane, that I was English (not British) and it caused no end of problems when I landed. Oh, and they weren't particularly friendly neither. You are both, unless you reject the Act of Union?
My Mrs rejects it most nights

It was only after SL had agreed to pursue the new ground share that Clarke Osbourne was invited to join the party. It all fell apart very quickly after the initial interest though.
