The pre-match chat with fans on Rad Bris. Reporter asks supporter what's the t-shirt about. He wasn't sure. Lucky for him his mate stepped in quick to say "protest". End of conversation at that point, but I'm sure it will have rattled the listening world no end

Orange T-Shirts with a message printed on the wrong side of the shirt. That is so typical Rovers it hurts. Hang on a second there mate, I met the guy who made these today, and he paid it all out of his own pocket, costing over £300. Cut him some slack. Excellent initiative and all who organised deserve a round of applause

Not sure wearing orange was the right idea though...

Excellent initiative and all who organised deserve a round of applause That is fantastic but he should ask for his money back as they were printed on the wrong side of the shirt unless of course they were expecting us to do the Poznan. Did it get any mention during the BT Sports lead up to the match, during the match or after the match ? There were also two orange banners hanging with our flags behind the goalmouth but couldn't see what they said as the print wasn't large enough to see, anyone know what they said ? Fans of course should be applauded for organising any protest that remains peaceful but it has also got to be effective or else it becomes ineffectual. My first impression when I first saw the shirt being given away and what was on it was that Sainsbury's were taking part in some promotion for 'fair play' which I thought was rather ironic and at first I refused to take it but I did wear it throughout the first half. Do those who organised it think the protest was succesful ?

Gosh. Low profile AND cryptic. How did it manage with its objective of drawing to the attention of a wider national audience some specific issues and concerns? What were the specific issues and concerns?
Or did those who noticed just mildly wonder why so many Blackpool fans had turned up?

I watched the match on the telly and saw a few people with t0-shirts saying "Play Fair Sainsburys." The trouble is anyone reading it who doesn't know the background would just think it was some promotion being run by the supermarket - not a protest against them! Bit of a damp squib just like the 'black & gold' protests a few years ago.

I don't think it can be described as low profile because the game was on national TV and the vast majority of travelling supporters were wearing orange t-shirts. For those of you who haven't been to a game for a while we usually play in yellow away and blue at home. The effectiveness of this protest was dependant on whether the BT Sport commentators chose to explain why gas heads were wearing orange. It was clear that the t-shirts and banners referred to Sainsbury's but as far as I could tell no explanation was given. I don't think that font size or positioning really matters. To get the message across to the nation, a camera would have had to zoom in and a comment would need to be made. Whether any of the newspapers follow it up remains to be seen. Personally as protests go, I think this one had potential. It looked pretty well organised, it was well supported and I salute the individual who coughed up the cash. It may or may not have been effective but at least an effort was made. I have far more respect for these people than those who sit at home and mock.

Seriously do fans think wearing a few orange shirts his going to frighten Sainsbury's into writing out a cheque for £30m?

Seriously do fans think wearing a few orange shirts his going to frighten Sainsbury's into writing out a cheque for £30m? I doubt it but they might think it will encourage Sainsburys to seriously consider offering compensation or to not appeal if the court decision goes against them. Especially if the protest gathers pace although if the consensus on here reflects the wider fan base, this looks unlikley.

I think a vague reference was made to the T-shirts on BT TV. It did look like an FA campaign to play fair on the pitch though, perhaps "Sainsbury's Play Fair" would have been better and would have got uninformed people asking questions.
Well done to the organisers, at least they are doing something. Bring back the Welly 3, give BRISA the kiss of life.

Blimey, I'd forgotten all about them! Maybe someone should go check on the organisers of The Wellington Discussion Group, they're probably still sat in that tent behind the pub, deep in conversation, trying to work out if they are the Horfield Popular Front or the Popular Front of Horfield. Yesterday's ''protest'', well done to the people organising it, but they really needed the TV broadcaster up to speed and understanding what was going on. Did radio Bristol mention it?

Seriously do fans think wearing a few orange shirts his going to frighten Sainsbury's into writing out a cheque for £30m? "No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little. " - Edmund BurkeMight not have got much coverage on TV, but ... Anyone watching would have been curious why supporters of a team that plays in Blue & White / Yellow were wearing Orange ... Macc fans were asking about it ... Subsequent media, such as newspapers, would show pictures and perhaps run articles ... People have taken photos, and can share them on social media ... Could be a ripple effect ... Overall it keeps the issue in the public eye.
