What a peculiar article. And a very odd way of signing off. Is this the new PR bloke at work? If so, I hope we're not paying him much.

Sorry really hate saying this but this to me sounds like an act of desperation. I honestly think that it is a ruse to make us complain and form action groups. Something is not right here. I want the UWE but if my theory is right it feels like a last ditch call to arms and not from a board that thinks it is a watertight contract. An OWN GOAL oh yes. I rather agree with you, I don't particularly want to be associated with some half hearted poorly thought out attempt to bring attention to our dispute with Sainsbury's, unless of course our new person dealing with Communication's will have all the national papers lined up for a briefing before getting Baldersgas to let rip

Note from the BoD to protesters The board of directors understand supporters are planning a series of protests against Sainsbury’s during the coming weeks, over their attempts to pull out of the UWE Stadium deal. At this moment in time, due to our ongoing legal action and with the High Court hearing a matter of weeks away, the club is not able to officially endorse or engage in any such protests, however we share the supporters' frustration with the position Sainsbury's is adopting and have no objection to supporters making their views known and taking any lawful steps to draw Sainsbury's actions to the attention of the wider public. We do entirely understand how supporters feel given the on-going saga surrounding the UWE Stadium, especially when the project is pivotal to our ambitions of taking the club to the next level. So we ask all supporters who are organising, or plan to take part in the protests to keep them both lawful and peaceful. On behalf of the board we would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your patience and co-operation in this matter, we are all very frustrated by the course of recent events. Your support throughout this process is hugely appreciated, and we can assure you it does not go un-noticed. This is a team effort and we are grateful to have you on our side during what is a testing time for all involved. As a board we continue to work incredibly hard behind the scenes to give the club a brighter future. Bristol Rovers is a unique club, with unique supporters. Keep the faith. Nick, Ed, Barry, Chris, Rod, Ken, Brian and Toni Read more at www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/anti-sainsburys-protests-2360605.aspxThe supporters planning these protests are doing a brilliant job because it appears that no one knows anything about them.
What a weird message.

Sorry, but can someone tell me what we are protesting about? Sainsburys reneging on a contract. Obviously. i agree with other posters, it's a strange article. They've either taken some of the posts on here and Gas Chat a bit too literally or they're looking to stimulate real protest. Protest will have no bearing whatsoever on the legal process but it could generate adverse publicity for Sainsbury's. If the board are actively encouraging this, it might be an indication that with the clock ticking, we are willing to consider / desparately hoping for an out of court settlement. Alternatively, we could still be confident of a result but we are trying to create a political climate which would make it embarrassing for Sainsbury's to appeal. People have been crying out for better PR for years. PR and positive spin go hand in hand so let's not get too hung up on facts. There are more than 2 Teams in Bristol after all.

Sainsburys reneging on a contract. Obviously. Have they? I'm reluctant to get drawn into one of your idiotic debates at this time of night but here goes .... morally; yes, legally; we don't know. Yet. Both parties entered into a contract in good faith. Rovers have continued to act in good faith. Sainsburys decided prior to expiry of the contract that they wanted out and IMHO they have not reasonably endeavoured to complete it. Let's hope the judge agrees eh?

Maybe Sainsbury's were going to organise a faux pas of their own and blame the club? In order to gain public sympathy.
Makes you wonder whether they were helping fund TRASH all along...

Maybe the BOD are trying to stimulate protests thinking that any bad publicity for Sainsburys and press attention will help our cause. I don`t see it as a bad idea at all, surely every little helps, so to speak?
Edit to say that as they are going to court (theoretically) they can hardly organise protests themselves so this is a call to arms.

I read some comments on Gaschat about people planning on spoiling food, leaving full trolleys, not paying for petrol etc. but that was months ago, surely this can't be a hint from the board? They wouldn't expect some supporters to start protesting outside Sainsbury's, would they?
