Yesterday goes alongside Hamilton Academicals v Motherwell New Years Day 2011 and any game I played or watched on the pitches at Lansdown as the coldest I have ever been at a football match!

Yes, that was the coldest I have been at s match for a very long time and that was wearing 4 layers and hiking boots and socks! Must be the metal terracing because most of the cold seeped in through my boots.
What is it with metal terracing? Why do new terraces often get built this way now rather than with concrete? Not only do they conduct temperature straight through you they are a damn site more slippy as well and potentially dangerous in moments of excitement.

Stenhousemuir vs East Fife in the Scottish Cup in 2008 for me, the linesman went off with hypothermia.

If it goes alongside an early morning Sunday League game on a frozen pitch up on Landsdown then it must have been cold!

Rex, I've told you before. Now you are elderly you should take your tartan blanket to matches. Nurse will carry it for you.

I remember playing football once at Landsdown on a Sunday morning ( after a heavy night ) . There was a layer of snow on the pitch , the most biting wind imaginable and the game was abandoned at half time..... Not because the pitch was unplayable but because everyone was so bloody freezing !

I remember a game at Luton in around December 1996 which was brass monkeys. Probably not helped by being unable to move due to the ridiculous proportions of the seats there
I went to see Bayern Munich play Furth in the Bundesliga two years ago. It was 15 below but didn't feel like it - 60,000 people in the ground can warm it up somewhat!

I still feel bad about it. What was freakish about playing on Lansdown was that often you'd drive through Wick to get to the game and it would be a pleasant sunny day, and once you'd got up on the hill, it could be thick fog, or a blizzard, or anything.

This is turning into a "Pythonesque" type sketch. There will be those on here talking about gathering round extra strong mints to keep warm next. Wait a minute .....I recall standing around a packet of extra strong mints once to keep warm. Now really cold that day I tell you...... let me see when was it......?

I remember a Tuesday night at Oldham when we had to set Matt Lockwood on fire to avoid hypothermia. And he was grateful for it

Was that the one game Danny Coles proved useful?

Away at Bury, I was so cold I asked a woman if I could get warm in her house! To my surprise she allowed me in, and gave me a cup of tea, of course I had to admit to being a southern softie

Sunday morning football was always good for a few laughs and finished just before opening time. We were a man short once, up the Netham I think it was, so a bloke on the line who'd come to watch volunteered to step in as a makeshift forward. He missed a glorious chance for an extended contract when he went up for a pinpoint cross, missed it by a yard but scored a great goal with his tupé.

Dagenham away on April 1st 2013 (jj last game) was probably the coldest, latest in the season.
In that new stand, Tounkara (or whatever his name was? ) warmed us up a bit..

Grimsby v Rovers, 13th April 1998. Easter Monday. It snowed. Didn't really matter as we won 2-1, only team to beat Grimsby at home that season and only team to score more than once up there as well. I remember coming out limping as I gashed my leg on the back of the seat in front of me while celebrating the winner

I'm certain that I have the correct match details, but the coldest that I can remember ever being at a football match was a game played at Eastville versus Ipswich Town, on 18 February 1978. It was an FA Cup game that we were winning 2-1, but then Ipswich scored and it went to a replay, which we lost.
I was stood in the South Enclosure and really found it quite difficult to concentrate on the game because it was so cold. To be honest I was just glad when the ref blew-up for full-time, never mind the result.
