I think the conversation was that this Williams guy is so convinced that sainsburys are unable to back out, therefore the uwe being funded to go ahead and nick higgs recouping his investment. it would be going on a high I guess, with the uwe stadium finally built from his hard work???
can I just say to those who like to put silly laughing comments and such like......im 40 years of age, im not a kid!! I thought some would be intrested in what I heard? I like others wont be completely happy until im sat in the uwe stadium watching our first 'league game'. I can only tell you what was said between this group of blokes, which I know is limited imformation. and can I add.... that this mr Williams said all this in front of some very good company..i,e a highly regarded ex rovers/bath employee, and others! im sure we will all hear the big announcement soon, one way or the another...!
as others have vouched for you ill hold my hands up and apologise. i genuinely thought you were a red on the pisstake if you knew who I was you would be glowing red at that comment......my blood runs blue!

firstly this is my first thread on here, im normally just happy to read others views and comments. but today I got some inside info that I felt worthy of its own thread. I know there has been a lot of talk on the sainsburys subject, and a lot of people guessing whats going to happen and a lot of people waiting with fingers crossed on some good news. but anyway here is what I know, and I know no more than what im going to tell you,so please don't give me thousands of questions as I don't have anymore to tell. and believe what you want of it, but please don't shout the messanger.
a good friend of mine who I meet at every rovers home game was at yate football club on boxing day. a relative of his who had strong links with rovers introduced him to a guy by the surname of Williams??? now this Williams guy has been trying to invest in rovers for a while. and he said to my mate that sainsburys can 'NOT' now pull out. he said that rovers have it so tightly wrapped up it would cost sainsburys to much to back out. he went on to say that higgs is ready to hang up his gloves as soon at the sainsburys deal is complete, as he just wants to re coupe the investment he has put in over the years.? apparently he has already put the club out to tender to venture capitalists for a take over invester, which could result in all kinds of intrest....including foreign investment???
oh and this Williams guy has made his money through the window industry?
now this is all I was told, and all my mate was told.... you believe what you want of it, but they are grown men and not kids. and like I said my mates relative has strong links to rovers, and football in general... this info might tie in what other information that somebody else has???
fantastic win today from the gas!! So please advise what is new about you inside info? You met Colin or his friend, yes Colin did approach Higgs earlier this year, reasonably common knowledge for those following off pitch matters. Colin was previously on the board of directors at BRFC, and his opinion is the contract is all sewn up. I don't think it will come as a surprise that Higgs wants out, this IMO is the most pleasing part. As has been said before if Sainsbury's want to play hard ball in court then they will do just that with their in house legal team. Time will tell of course, all due respect to you fella but I don't see what your post has done to deem it as important inside info. inside info was probably not the best words I could of used..... but I thought it would be good to hear what a few blokes opinion was, who I think are set in high a steam and probably have the means to information that is not in the public eye?? there is a lot of speculation regarding this topic, and as this is a forum I thought somebody such as these guys view point would be of intrest?? some of you on here might be privileged to know such people and be already clued up on such information? some not??

Fwiw, it interested me because I don't have my ear as close to the ground as others and often skip over the Sainsbury's type threads because, well, I've got other things to be getting on with.
What has been posted has the ring of truth about it and has been backed up by those more in the know. So it feels like solid info, though no closer to knowing how things will turn out.
So thanks for posting

Apparently he has already put the club out to tender to venture capitalists for a take over invester, the fact he hasn't sold out yet suggests the VC's can't be convinced the contracts are "water tight" as surely they'd snatch NH's hand off for a share of £30m??

All seems very vague, given you are 40 it's surprising that you didn't recognise Colin Williams or at least be instantly familiar with his name, Granted not every fan follows off the pitch matters but CW's approach to GD along with Mike Turl and Kevin Spencer wasn't short of column inches in the BEP at the time, surprised you don't recall this. Roman Glass who Colin is a director of is also a former kit sponsor of Rovers. Anyway all pointless guess work until people involved release more solid and factual information.

(mentioned by colin Williams on boxing day).... was there not talk on here of colin sexstone at a home game recently??? or was this a wind up???

he owns about 10 companys, all within the window industry....and the company he first started manufactures windows....so he supplying all 10 companys. good businessman, bad footballer! If your boss is Hayden then please tell him there is a Rovers fan in the USA who has very fond memories of travelling to matches with his Grandad in the 1960's. If I have got the right person then he worked at Avalon Furniture Yatton with my Uncle and used to go on the Pearce's coach to Eastville. A very charming and humble man and I am glad to hear his family have done so well in the window business.

Odd you knew about Sexton but not one of our former Directors? But apart from sharing the same first name what's he got to do with this thread?

I knew of roman glass but was unaware of mr Williams, and never knew he was a board member?? was only a young lad in the days of roman glass!

Would be cheaper for Sainsbury to buy the club outright £10m should do it Apologies for going ''off message,'' but this does make perfect sense. Well, it does to me at any rate.

Just to fuel fire Colin was at Yate Town on Boxing Day Carry on So was I. And I had an evening with Colin and a leading planning expert recently at mine. I was also in Colin's box at a very recent game. Its all about opinions, but one thing we should agree upon is that we cannot carry as we are, and being sold down the river is a poor return for loyalty and £1m plus of our money. But hey, lets guess the gate for the next home game and moan when the club is left homeless and rudderless, we already have 50% of that. (I speak for myself, not Colin or anyone else)

And no breach of confidentiality anywhere here, expressions of interest are not normally confidential as they are almost impossible to conceal. We shall see, but the fears of 2004 may well be coming into force.
