Are we planning to recruit with the intention of staying another year then in the Conference then? Sorry, hardly inspiring is it. One of the biggest budgets in the Conference and we are cherry picking from Salisbury? How about doing the sort of cherry picking that Eastleigh are going. This is going to be a long old season.

Cherry picking mercenaries from higher division clubs on their way down? We've been doing that for years.

Midson and Constable? Cherry Picked? No thanks.

It's not like we're signing every single one of their team is it? We have signed a striker whose record is better than 1 in 2 and we are being linked with a winger who scored and set up a very respectable amount of goals. Factor in their ages and I think it's very shrewd, very sensible business. I would be disappointed if we missed out on young players with White's and Frear's records simply because some fans didn't want us to recruit from our manager's old club. If we were being linked with 4 or 5 Salisbury players I would fully understand your point but the fact we're taking a top half side's two best players is good news as far as I'm concerned. Also, why would you rather we went for players who were nothing more than average last season in League Two for wages on or around £2k a week? Just because they are bigger names, I take it? Remember, we went for players who were playing at higher levels whilst we were in L2 (Clarkson from City in the Championship, for example) and got very little return for the wages we were paying. Constable and Midson could just as easily go the same way when the reality of playing in front of a few hundred people in a poor stadium hits them.

Mediocrity I fear. I saw a lot of Conference football last year, gonna need some tough cookies to get out. I still need to be convinced.

All signings might be s**t, let's see what happens but I fail to see how taking the two best players from a top half team is a bad thing...
