Guessing Higgs has been told no part season moves, so therefore no point in building quickly and leaving empty stadium to run at cost, and double up on expenses.
SUprised he wouldnt challenge any you cant move part way through a season ruling via his new Tory chums and pressure on the relevant leagues.

It doesn’t have to be built quickly, but then we don’t have to try and rush a 62 week build into 62 weeks now do we.
It now leaves ample time for us to choose our seats, have all the test games and certificates and have the place fitted out and completed to full spec as we are being told that it will be.

would like to know on what basis this cost has been calculated and what effect this has on no debt being attached to the stadium and/or the fitting out of it

Agree - if the delay is used for this purpose, then I can't say I'm disappointed as it gives a lot more breathing space to get things done properly. Up to the board to make sure that it's only a delay though, rather than a cancellation or indefinite hiatus.

Nothing on the os yet. They used to say "any news, you'll hear it first on the official website". Do the EP pay us for exclusives these days? Still nothing about it on the OS at 10:35 either, after saying the OS and Twitter were now the clubs preferred forms of communication with us I think that tells us all we need to know.

It make me laugh some people thought this was a done deal, the only things Rovers have built since 1935 when the Tote was constructed have either been paid for by the supporters or insurance companies. Do not and will not believe it'll be built until the day I walk in. You're forgetting Santa's Grotto.

What worries me is the fact (being in the Construction Industry myself) that construction inflation is absolutely rocketing at the moment due to massive shortage of Skilled Labour and materials
Sure Nick Higgs is well aware of this and just hope he ties Buckingham up on a lump sum all risk contract !

Must agree with the majority view that it "Don:t look good".. To many questions and not enough answers, Like I said NH detailed report in a few weeks time will make my mind up. If he states a "Time" and explains the process to get that "start date". Then I may just believe a very little. If its " We will update you in a few months" . Then to me he is dragging. After all: NH said "Detailed".. This detailed report is something no-one can hide from now.. Surely this suggests major problems now. 12 months delay and a start date cannot even be mentioned! Sometime this year - more time for excuses and to see how we don't cope as a non league outfit. Also, more time for Sainsburys to pull the plug. They are big enough to be able to take a hit on a contract break. It ain't going to happen I tell thee. I don't know what it suggests anymore, you can't tell me he didn't know about ALL of this last Friday when Javid visited the Mem? To quote what Higgs said then only a couple of days ago - And ... And then the piece above gets released to the Post for publication on Monday?!?! Don't tell us he didn't know Friday when his Tory chums visited that the stadium would not be open until 2016/17 - Don't tell us he didn't know he was going to release the above piece to the post over the weekend (possibly even that very same day, Friday) for publication on Monday. So as regards Friday's comments from him it would seem clear that Mr Higgs was speaking with forked tongue don't you think?

Dont you think Post is just reporting the article from OS using slightly different language? Thats how I read it?

would like to know on what basis this cost has been calculated I think you already know the answer to that - plucked out of thin air.
We didn't even know the cost implications of relegation until a few days ago.

It's definitely different. More than slightly imo.
"... it is now unlikely the stadium will be ready for the start of the 2015/16 season."
"Nick Higgs has revealed that the club will not be going to their new home beside the University of the West of England at Stoke Gifford until the start of the 2016/17 season."

Sure it would be nice to have a clean cut start of season date for moving to a new stadium - but surely equally important is to get it built and facilities underway. Empty land = NO income. Constructed stadium = Potential Income Added to which the longer the delay the more constructions costs are likely to increase. That certainly seems to be what NH was saying at a Q&A session in April last year. "* The stadium should be completed mid season so if not allowed to move in until a new season starts then the stadium will still be generating money due to schemes that will provide money up front like the gym, bar and function rooms which can be used straight away! So the stadium will be paying for itself while not being used." Sounds like something's changed between then and now.

Guessing Higgs has been told no part season moves, so therefore no point in building quickly and leaving empty stadium to run at cost, and double up on expenses. I thought that the non-match day revenue was the major benefit to the new stadium, so surely get it built and earning money ASAP?

Worrying. The costs of building the stadium can only increase due to the upturn in the economy, delaying the start makes little sense to me, starting it as early as possible even if we are delaying the opening by a season would surely be best, less chance of having to rush and pay overtime etc to get it finished on time.
For the first time since Trash were defeated I am feeling a little concerned about the project.

"However, this does not mean the build will be delayed by 12 months; we still intend to get onsite and start building later this year."
