If we can't afford him then they've done the right thing in my opinion. Our income should be more than enough to make us very competitive in this league and the one above. It's not like we're sitting on massive cash reserves.

Depends on the details obviously but, if true, it is short term financial planning. If you have a striker willing to come to the conference with his ability, from a club with Olly as manager so potential to do a favour on wages, meet in the middle and make it happen. Otherwise, who else is out there that can do the job that Darrell will know? Bear in mind being a football club with no scouts.

If he does the job and we go up then they get ROI. Not carrying an injury is he?

Hardly played in League for 18 months - surely not quite what we are after. Decent record but not as prolific as I would have thought from memory less than 80 goals in 355 games and hardly any since 2010.
Is he fit?
Probably still too expensive!

I may be wrong, but I can't help but be a little suspicious about this claim.
And if this is the whole truth, then I can't see how anybody can judge whether the decision was right or wrong without knowing the board's reasons for not sanctioning the move.

He's only ever scored more than 10 league goals in a season on two occasions.
He has however played a decent portion of his career at a much, much higher level so on balance I think he'd certainly do a job IF the attitude was right.
It's hard to make a judgement really without knowing exactly what finances are involved.

It's not like we're sitting on massive cash reserves. Agreed, some people think that you get wads of cash thrown at you in League 2. Yes you get a bit more in, but costs go up too. I would rather we didn't get promotion, than get promotion and immediately go into administration.

Sorry to quote myself, but for me this time out of the league should be an opportunity to re-balance our cost base and get the club on a sounder financial footing for the future. And an opportunity to get the fans on board by telling them that.

Yeah, how reliable is the source? Seems a bit dodgy to jump to so many conclusions. Maybe when Watola said we'll be on site by Easter, they thought he said Easter will be on our side.

This is Scandalous and the board must not be allowed to get away with it! I'm absoloutley livid about this.
This all smacks of the "Blimey the Gates of held up after Relegation" no need to panic... Mode the Board adopted after are initial Relegation in 2001.
Thus seeing us stagnate and gradually become a fully fledged Leauge two/4th division club!
The same lack of ambition which saw us start last season woefully unprepared and culminated in humiliation at the end of the season..
you can see why good managers/players thrive before and after there with us..
The lack of ambition and urgency runs right thru our club and eventually infects the dressing room! Clarke and these players are trying very hard to stop this rot but it seems an old dog never changes it's spots! Feel for them and disgusted with are phoney board who when Asked to walk the talk are found wanting as always! f**king w****rs...
