It’s with much sadness that I have to tell you that Allan (Rivers Gas / Pine Gas ) has sadly passed away. A lifelong Rovers supporter and long time prediction league proprietor Going to miss you mate R.I.P 🔵⚪️

Yes Indeed. A great shock. A Gashead from the top drawer. RIP Allan.

I only knew him for his sterling efforts running the Prediction League. He came across as a thoughtful and very decent man. RIP Allan.

Sad news. One of the many reasons the Conference season was so enjoyable for me , was travelling to pretty much every away game with Allan, Dido and occasionally Basel. We would often try to get in a cultural stop, seeing the Iron Bridge when going to Telford , Anthony Gormley's 'Another Place' en route to Southport- where we managed to find a pub that served beer so bad , that not even Allan could drink it Allan constitution was incredible! When first introduced to him by Dido, I was told he was a 'Four pasty' man. I didn't really get that at first , until I realised that he - literally- would buy four burger, hot dogs , pasties, or whatever fayre was on offer at whichever particular ground we were travelling to. It was me who did the driving 99% of the time, except for one memorable occasion when Allan drove to Eastleigh. Dido insisted on sitting in the back and it didn't take me long to realise why , I needed more than a few stiff whiskies to face the journey back home A very proud Bristolian, with a fair dinkum Aussie accent, I hadn't seen him since Covid I guess and I regret not making more of an effort to keep in touch. Four years to the day I lost another good mate in Brian Daly, I shall and do remember both very fondly.

That is sad to hear. As epping I didn’t know him apart from through the prediction league which I enjoyed for a few years. He gave up considerable time to organise that so that a few of us could have a bit of fun. I’m sure he’ll be very much missed esp amongst his friends. RIP Allan.
UTG!

Had a few hours to take this in and it’s a really weird feeling.
Allan has been a friend for years but manly online.
When this forum and its predecessor was formed I used to do the silly profile pics etc as well as being an admin of this site.
My first real meeting was when Allan turned up at our pub to help with a charity beer festival. Four days of non stop madness!
Another friend of mine got us box tickets for Oxford v The Gas. Only problem was the box is above the Oxford fans.
We score Allan takes off his jacket showing the quarters and screaming goal!
It was fun getting out of the stadium!
Meet a few times at the wellie before games.
I fail out of love with the gas and he took over the predictions league for me.
It’s weird I have always been in the background looking but not commenting.
I could have gone to the game yesterday ( for those that know will understand why that game).
I said no, then when I got that dreaded message this morning.
I bet he is looking down and laughing at me!
Many more people on here knew him a lot more than me and in truth were like family to him.
For me it’s more like thank you for your friendship, sleep well brother.

... I only rejoined today to say thank you to Allan. Good to hear from you again Oxon, hope all is well in your world. For those who may not know, Oxon was a member of the original Admin team who set up gasheads.org. He also designed my avatar, which you can see is still in use after almost 10 years.

Very sad that we seem to be losing a number of old and former Gasheads recently. There used to be something special about being a Gashead which seems to be slowly ebbing away when we lose another. People like Allen remind us that being a Gashead can be very special particularly with the people you meet whether in person or even online. Would be good if we could try to get back to some of those days and ways. RIP Allen, thoughts with and condolences to his family, friends and his Gashead mates.

I didn't know Allan, just aware of his posts, and that there was some interesting story behind his support for Rovers and a move from Australia.
It lovely to know that Allan made many great friendships during his Rovers journey.
Condolences to Allan's friends and family.
