The Post are reporting Scott Sinclair is now close to resigning for Rovers.A free signing.
33 years old,SS left about 15 years or so ago for Chelsea, this after playing about 'half an hour' for Rovers.
Rovers received plenty of dosh for him.
He enjoyed a top division career, in Scotland and Wales too.
Last season he played 28 games for Preston North End,8 of these games as a ko whistle starter.
A winger.
He's been training at the Quarters for a while now.
Could be good for player and Rovers.
Edit. SS is an intelligent player, great skill,a biggish bloke with a creative eye and good goalscoring ability. So,as long as his legs hav'nt slowed too much,he's got what it takes. Apologies for stating the obvious.

Scott is now 33 and played in 2 games for Rovers way back in the 2004-5 season, lots of loan clubs later never making much of an impact until 5 years later playing for Wigan. Played then for Swansea City, Man.City, Aston Villa, Celtic and Preston, has now played in over 500 games, scoring 130 goals. Scott is engaged to long time partner actress Helen Flanagan, they have 3 children. Could be well worth a go, see what happens.

His goals for PNE are excellent, with one lob from '10 miles out' being brilliant. Most the this film was clearly in the Covid time,so a couple of years ago.

The Post are reporting Scott Sinclair is now close to resigning for Rovers.A free signing. Good news, he might perform a function similar to Jermaine Easter in DC's squad. Couple of fact checks though... "Rovers received plenty of dosh for him". Chelsea signed Sinclair in July 2005. A Football League tribunal set the compensation to be paid to Bristol Rovers at an initial £200,000, with increments ... Chelsea would also have to pay Rovers 15% of the profit on any future sale.
"a biggish bloke" At 5 foot 8 inches, Scott Sinclair is an inch taller than Sam Finley!

🙂 Okay Macc,i admit I did judge his size from a YT video of his PNE goals.A decent 'upper middle weight perhaps (another guess)? After the initial £200,000 ,what did Rovers eventually get, that's what i went with?

After the initial £200,000 ,what did Rovers eventually get, that's what i went with? Chelsea sold Scott Sinclair to Swansea in 2010, for a reported "£500k (rising to £1m, depending on future success)". If we assume the million (as Swansea - under Brendan Rogers - were promoted to the Premier League a year later), then Chelsea would have made a profit of £800k, of which 15% (£120k) would have been due to Rovers. Adding that to the initial fee of £200,000, means that Rovers would have got a total of £320,000 from the "sale" (or would compulsory purchase be more apt, as I remember?). To put that £320k in a little perspective, "Sinclair signed a four-year contract with Premier League champions Manchester City on 31 August 2012, moving from Swansea for a reported transfer fee of £8 million".

Oh right, thanks Macc.So SS did'nt make the other increments of games played for Chelsea and international call ups.

www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2022/october/sinclair-in-rovers-return/After eighteen years, Scott Sinclair has returned to Bristol Rovers on a short-term deal. Joining the club's Centre of Excellence as an eight-year-old schoolboy from Bath, he was eventually allocated squad number 34, making two substitute appearances for Rovers' first team, against Leyton Orient and Swansea City in the 2004/05 season. A 90th-minute cameo appearance against Orient was followed by a slightly longer 88th-minute appearance against the Swans, so his Rovers first-team career probably amounted to five minutes! His form for the youth and reserve teams up to that point had been phenomenal and it was no surprise when he would join Chelsea as a 16-year-old, in spite of attempts by Rovers to hang on to him. The eventual fee was decided by tribunal and Scott would go on to play for a number of top clubs, including Celtic, Manchester City and Aston Villa, making a return to The Mem with the Midlands side in a friendly during the summer of 2016. Sinclair, 33, will wear the number 7 shirt for the Gas and said: "I'm delighted to back at the place where my career began. I've been training for a couple of weeks and The Quarters is certainly very different to where we trained when I was younger! I've always wanted to come back to the club to give back what they've given me at the start of my footballing journey." Rovers boss Joey B***** said: "We are delighted to have brought Scott into the group. He has been training with us for a couple of weeks now. We're enjoying having him in with us. He's a fit lad, his experience and quality is superb and he will strengthen us further as we move into these winter months." Sinclair, who has signed until January, is not available for tonight's game with Swindon in the Papa John's Trophy, but could come into contention for selection for this Saturday's clash with table-topping Plymouth Argyle.

Failed to achieve his full potential after signing for Chelsea - a common story that can be added to Barkley, Rodwell et al. Sinclair could have been a top, top player with the right guidance but instead opted for Abramovich's blood money that was looted from ordinary Russians. Playing for Celtic and their IRA-glorifying fanbase in the Scottish conference league was scarcely an improvement. However good to see that he is now hitting the heights in the twilight of his career. Welcome back Scott.

I saw his subbed debut from the Blackthorn End....
I hope to see his last match too, and hope he doesn't go the way of Blackthorn.
Welcome back, hero ...

Abramovich's money is covered in blood by virtue of his association with Putin's regime and the fact that the money he looted could have funded Russian healthcare or care for the elderly. Instead it financed Chelsea football club. Members of Celtic's fanbase routinely glorify acts of terrorism and others stand by and tolerate it. I wonder what the response would be if Arab football fans glorified terrorism in the same manner? Neither statement is controversial or uninformed.

With regard to Abramovich, do you really think that a 16 year old boy thinks deeply about where the money to finance the club came from, when he signs a contract? Very low of you to try and sully Sinclair in this way.

Agreed on Abramovich.Russian billionaires are quite possibly murderers. Yep,some Celtic supporters (how many) are eg loud IRA supporters etc. Arab fans supporting terrorism in the UK? I imagine loads of indoctrinated Britons would turn a blind eye even support them. The majority,if they actually found their voice, would loudly hate and despise them. You chose an interesting way of looking at the return of SS rideintothesun. You could of eg,put up a YT video of his PNE goals, his last club.
