Don’t mind Exeter and Swindon winning, and Sutton can’t catch us if we win our last two after the weekend. Just need Mansfield to drop points more than anything. With that scenario if Exeter and us win both games we finish third.

Tuesday 26th April - Results
Exeter City v Barrow - 2-1 (Exeter promoted)
Mansfield Town v Stevenage - 2-0
Sutton United v Crawley Town - 3-0
Swindon Town v Forest Green Rovers - 2-1
We drop 1 place to 6th, every team has now 2 games to play.
FGR could have chucked the title away after leading for so long.

At first glance it looks like 4 points from Northampton and the gd deprives us of top 3. But on second glance they ain’t getting 4 points from Title winning Exeter home and Barrow away. And vale and Mansfield need to win both their games to finish above us. I expect us to make hay in our last two easy games anyway so even if Northampton, who were unimpressive against us, do fluke 4, our GD might well be better than theirs anyway. the tables lying, as we have got our difficult games out way early, we can mentally bank the six points and watch the others fail to get the six points they need from very tough fixtures. as the tables lying the bookie odds for automatic May be daft too, so if our odds look long, get on them.

If we cannot be confident now, when the hell can we, i agree we will take the 6 points on offer and see the others sweat with their not so easy games.

In all those sixty odd years that i've been watching the Gas i've seen quite a few those dead cert win encounters which have turned out to be a little disappointing. Never count yer chickens ............

Had to laugh last night watching Sky Sports News. When they went down the main contenders in League Two they didn't even mention us. Went through the teams, skipped us and then focussed on Sutton's run saying they were the key ones to watch. Good though because it means no one considers us as a threat. Better that way!

Went through the teams, skipped us and then focussed on Sutton's run saying they were the key ones to watch. Good though because it means no one considers us as a threat. Better that way! Best odds for the last automatic promotion slot as follows: Northampton 11-8 Port Vale 3-1 Rovers 9-2 (bet 365). As tight as 3-1 elsewhere. Mansfield 6-1 Sutton 16-1 Swindon 150-1 Oddschecker indicate that 'most' bets are currently on Rovers. www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-2/english-league-2/top-3-finishI think we'll win both games - though Dale away might not prove as easy as some people are suggesting. Rovers are 5-4 best. Exeter / Northampton is a tough call. Will Exeter have a hangover (like FGR did) on gaining promotion? What state will they be in against in-form Northampton at sickfields? Exeter and Northampton are currently 1st and 2nd in the form table (6 games). Interesting times.

Interesting times. “Oddschecker indicate that 'most' bets are currently on Rovers.” clever bettors have looked at the fixtures and know we are the value bet. I expected more value though, just shows the bookies have looked at everyone’s fixtures And think we are going up automatically too. it’s simple we will definitely get six points, non of the others will, though Mansfield may come closest. Northampton need four and better goal difference than us in theory, but we have better chance of 6 than they have 4. Who said “if we can’t be confident now when can we be confident?” That’s spot on!

Now that they have both been promoted the pressure has been taken off so I would imagine that they will be going for it hammer and tongs and also enjoying every minute of it along the way.

Or just thinking about not getting injured for their summer hols and also the start of next season when they are in a higher league?

Well as Delsy said "Now that they have both been promoted the pressure has been taken off so I would imagine that they will be going for it hammer and tongs and also enjoying every minute of it along the way." I think they both can do us a big favour by Exeter beating Northampton & Port Vale and FGR beating Mansfield, for those two it will then be down to goal difference for the title.

How Exeter City's fan-owned model secured League Two promotion
"It's taken us a long time," says Exeter City president Julian Tagg as he surveys the squad of players celebrating promotion to the third tier of English football.
The Grecians' promotion to League One, after five seasons of near-misses and play-off finals agony, shows a side does not always need a wealthy backer to succeed in the EFL.
The fan-owned club is now aiming to pip long-time leaders Forest Green Rovers to the League Two title with two games left.
Next season they will pit their wits against Derby County, who are still in administration after the excesses of their owner's overspending.
Exeter's current status is born out of almost going out of business in 2003, with Tagg and other fans leading a takeover.
Since then the club has focused on developing their young players with the aim of getting them into the first team and selling them on - with great success.
England striker Ollie Watkins has netted the club around £4.5m in add-ons from his sale to Aston Villa from Brentford, with the club likely to get another £150,000 if Steven Gerrard's side avoid relegation. That is in addition to the £1.8m they received when they sold him to the Bees in 2017.
Add that to £1m-plus fees for the likes of Matt Grimes, Ethan Ampadu and Joel Randall, as well as six-figure fees for players such as Jordan Storey, David Wheeler and Tom Nicholls over the years and the club has probably banked close to £10m from players they have developed and sold on.

Hmm,FGR get promoted and lose at Swindon. Proves nothing of course. I'm suspicious that it's all about promotion these days.Like eg gaining promotion to the top division. Cash beats titles. I don't know how much more of the filthy lucre is got for going from 4th to 3rd tier? I certainly hope the two promoted FCs give their all to become Champions.
