I don’t know if tongue in cheek but since we were there, Bath have a group of nasty buggers that can cause a ruckus if there is one to be had. We left some kind of legacy there. Jim Rollo, retired ex captain of romans was the one who would tell me of this. I usually try and get to a couple of Bath City games each season, and haven't noticed anything untoward. I know that, since my childhood, there has been a certain type of Bathonian who would go to Twerton Park for a high profile cup games with a view to causing trouble - you'd never see them at a run of the mill League game. I think the Yeovil game will definitely have an edge to it. Likewise, I watch two or three Bath games a season and not noted anything. I just get the feeling of a very welcoming Club. Shame the Council has blocked the re-development of Twerton. Good luck to them. I do like a fan-owned Club.

While we're at it,is'nt the Yeovil Weymouth game the 'big one',as it were? The Glovers have their strongest traditional rivalries with Weymouth, which has been described as intense, and fellow Somerset club, Bath City, with Yeovil and Bath having played one another precisely 272 times. The first game for which the grandstand at Twerton Park officially opened was an FA Cup-tie on November 12, 1932. Yeovil, at the time, were said to be much “much reviled” in Bath over the years. 5,345 watched the club beat Bath 4-2. The paper reported that the crowd were ‘strangely silent’, with Bath fans stating “Losing to Yeovil always hurt”. However, both rivalries have dwindled significantly over the past decades due to the lack of competitive meetings with Weymouth and Bath. The 2020–21 National League season marked the first league encounters between Yeovil and Weymouth since the 1988–89 Football Conference season. A rivalry with Bath City dates back to numerous Southern League and Conference meetings, being described as 'fierce' during the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, Since the turn of the century, Yeovil and Bath moved in opposite directions across the English Football Pyramid, with the two clubs being as many as five divisions apart from one another during the 2013–14 season. Having been promoted to the EFL Championship in 2013, Yeovil played second tier football for the first time in their history during the 2013–14 season, at the same time, Bath were struggling in the sixth tier. Whilst the club were having one of the best periods in their history, Bath City were having one their worst, thus, local animosity between Bath and Yeovil dissipated. Similarly, Hereford United were also seen as rivals, before their dissolution in 2014, due to both clubs being fairly well matched during their time in non-league ranks. During their time in the EFL, Yeovil fans considered both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City to be rivals. In August 2009, Yeovil played Exeter City for the first time in the league, and both clubs have shared a rivalry since, with the match often being billed as a Westcountry Derby. Swindon Town and AFC Bournemouth were also considered somewhat rivals due to geographical proximity.

Great research bt. I’ve attended a fair few of those pairings. Yeovil v Taunton in the FA Cup, a few Weymouth v Yeovil matches at both grounds and since they were in the EFL nearly every Bournemouth v Yeovil game. I must have been lucky but never saw any trouble, that was saved for when we played Yeovil. The NLS with all those derbies next season will be great, less travel, bigger crowds, what’s not to like? Come on Taunton and Weymouth! (That is if Weymouth survive this season.) 😉
UTG!

I do get incensed having to listen to the match preview and reports on Radio Bris for YTFC, I don’t really have any interest whatsoever in how they’re doing. I did email Radio Bris on the coverage and the argument/reply I got was that they are contractually obliged to cover Yeovil’s games and have some agreement with Radio Somerset. If Yeovil do get relegated they’ll be in the same league as Bath and Taunton, and personally I’d much rather hear how they’re doing then Yeovil! To be fair, the way things have gone this season, I've not really wanted to hear how Yeovil are doing!!

I watched the Southend game and it was truly grim, maybe like Rovers drop a few years ago Yeovil will revive. We are all brothers (and sisters) as supporters despite rivalries and understand what it's like when your club is seemingly is at it's lowest ebb. The wheel of fortune will spin again....There will be brighter days ahead. Kind regards John Malyckyj

Went to a Bath City v Yeovil Town game, must have been early '90s, and Yeovil fans ran on the pitch at the end - bit hazy but I'm sure the referee was assaulted.
Wasn't a nice atmosphere. Walked away round the Bath End pretty sharpish.

To be honest, I'm a little numbed from it all having only been to three or four games in the last four seasons (and I was paid to go to them!! ). However my two youngest lads still go; they're currently en route to Aldershot with hope that we can climb out of this mess. If you thought Southend was grim, Gateshead was even worse but thankfully I missed that one. Not quite sure we've hit rock bottom just yet either.

All this talk of Yeovil, reminds me of being at school in Montpelier Bristol in the early 70’s with a few kids wandering around wearing ‘Elect Yeovil’ badges, and Peter Brown on Points West beating the Yeovil drum for election to the football league, thought it quite odd at the time.

Yeovil lose 0 1 at home to Dorking Wanderers. Our former Millwall CH plays for them I think.
Looks like it's Nat South next season for Yeovil Town.
Will Radio Bristol still cover this completely miserable FCs games in the 6th tier?
YTFC had better sort themselves out sooner rather than later or their EFL days will become a distant forever nostalgic memory.

Yeovil should receive the same amount of coverage as the other teams from the RB area who are in that league, they're nothing special.

How do like your eggs? This was never going to age well. #UpTheROVERSAmazingly, this picture was taken at Brighton on the day we were relegated, 25th April 2014. Two teams with hugely differing fortunes since then. Sigh.

So short sighted but typical of the behaviour of a few of their fans who came on the forums at that time and the years before this. Not you Mart as you are a genuine fan and one of the good guys so I feel your pain. For those bell ends though I am really enjoying the schadenfreude. So silly really as I used to have a soft spot for Yeovil and would have wished them well before this, similar to how I think of Cheltenham and Forest Green. Not aware of any of their fans giving it Billy Big Bollocks when they've done better than us. Oh well they can enjoy their renewed acquaintance with their true rivals Bath, Chippenham, Taunton and Weymouth if the latter survive. Not evennlikely to be the best team in Somerset 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Its football housery at its best at the time but it can backfire spectacularly also. Yeovil thought the had consolidated as a league club regardless of ownership. The fans demanded the sale of the club to its current owners and they have been in decline ever since. Not only have they lost their league status but their ownership of Huish Park.
Quite sad really.

It was posted by a Yeovil supporter on the Rovers' forum that preceded this one. Sorry if it offends. Although schadenfreude doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Sigh. #UpTheROVERSNah, doesn't offend me Darlo. It was something that was meant to be funny but backfired spectacularly. I know the guy quite well who is holding it up & I'm sure he feels a bit awkward himself now given that pretty soon, you'll be three divisions higher than us.

Please pass on my best wishes to him that he enjoys his local derbies next season - but not too much as it be very enjoyable if he experienced defeats in all of them. If he can learn humility i might one day be able to wish him a return to the EFL. Hopefully in place of either the lightning cheats or franchise FC. Two clubs I dislike the most alongside the 82ers and Swindle

Beyond the banter things are very sad behind the scenes at Yeovil Town. They no longer own their ground and have had rogue owners who at one point seem to have been interested in our very own BRFC. Football is a toxic paradox - generations of supporters who live and breathe their clubs through their blood; plus people who see a cash cow or a piece of land. If Tesco went bust and turned into housing we'd just shop at Asda. If BRFC went bust and the Mem turned into housing we wouldn't just head down to Ashton Gate

I don't expect people to feel sorry for YTFC fans especially how some of them were on here when we entered the League and then rose above you in the pyramid. Some shocking, classless posts appeared on here and am ashamed that some of those folk support my club.
I feel sorry for some of the fans. My own lads went to the game; one returning home to Bristol from Fareham to join his brother on the train to Wrexham on Tuesday night. Sang their hearts out, got emotional when relegation was confirmed then caught a train to Manchester to catch an overnight coach back home to Bristol. Arrived in BS1 at 7am (motorway blocked), home here just after 8am. That's who I feel sorry for.
