fair point, but wasn't he 'elected' by his team mates? is electing your own Captain normal practice? It should be down to manager surely. Should be on managers wavelength regards tactics and supportive of manager? I don't know, but it does at least point towards leadership ability, like his previous life at Gills does so I'm still a bit puzzled about what was different

He was definitely playing crap. No doubt about it. Here’s three suggestions. Garners want to leave defence outgunned at end of games against likes of Ipswich and Hull etc etc who were overloading attack didn’t help Ehmer settle in the first few months. If Tis bewildered Little, how about if you have made your career on centre back and now being asked to play on the wing? and perhaps feeling he was shop steward for the team, he might just have suggested to Barton he was wrong about something, which was insane thing to do, Barton’s never wrong about anything and tough on any suggestion he can be, and quite possibly Joey is moody after losing games of football and more than ready for a bit of aggro.

A lot of new players last season, maybe they voted for Ehmer because he'd been the Captain at Gillingham? Ehmer is apparently very laid back, doesn't sound like the sort of person to get team mates fired up when needed. Wouldn't Alex Rodman be shop steward for the team, from his role as PFA representative?

We have about five captains this season. Just hope there's more of a winning mentality than a collection of alpha males all vying to be Barton's leader. We'll see.

One or two individual incidents apart, I found ML disappointing over all, and (with hindsight) GC worst signing making little (pardon the pun) or no contribution and thoroughly unfulfilling of his potential. His match fitness was a glaring issue. I always preferred Josh Hare inclusion. That said, he appeared to try his hardest when on the pitch and bridged the Bristol gap with dignity and no animosity, so I wish him all the best in his pastures new, and good luck as long as he doesn't go near the one place we know he shouldn't ... But I really think we are better off without him and shed no tear on his departure. Absolutely, couldn't agree more, his revelations are interesting.
