This has got adjourned written all over it, that is unless B***** says he is happy to have it heard at magistrates. The maximum sentence magistrates can give is 6 months.

I think the BBC are open to the idea of their being another woman in Kew on 2nd June. The Police report does not say that the woman whose head was injured, apparently by 'beating', is Mrs B*****. It does seem likely, in general, but Mrs B***** has given contrary witness testimony on Instagram. But Bristol Rovers are national news and probably 'trending' on something else.

Where did he get this from? Was this stated in court? There's no way this will be tried by magistrates, unless the prosecution's witnesses withdraw or it's thrown out. Jesus Christ. That's some accusation. I'm so sick of being associated with this sort of violence.
EDIT: obviously not magistrates as it says trial in December. I must have stopped reading when I recoiled at the allegation. Busy season. Jesus Christ, Al Qadi.

ormer Premier League footballer Joey B***** is accused of grabbing his wife by the throat and kicking her in the head in a drunken row at a party, a court heard on Monday.
The 38-year-old, who is now managing League Two side Bristol Rovers, is accused of assaulting Georgia B***** outside a property in Kew, south-west London, on June 2.
Prosecutor Nahiedh Khan said B***** and his wife had travelled to London for a short break, and went to the home of friends for a small gathering.
“All parties were talking about a family-related matter when Mr B***** became quite angry about the topic of conversation”, she said.
“He grabbed the throat of Mrs B*****, and this caused her to move backwards, falling to the floor.“Once on the floor, he is then said to have kicked her in the head, resulting in a half golf ball sized bruise on the right side of her temple.
“She can’t remember what happened directly, but afterwards she got up and realised her nose was bleeding.”
The court heard Mrs B***** called the police and asked for her “intoxicated” husband to be removed from the property.
Appearing via videolink at Wimbledon magistrates court, B*****, wearing shorts and T-shirt, pleaded not guilty to assault by beating.
The court was told he denies being violent towards his wife, suggesting she had been “drinking heavily” and had “greatly exaggerated” the incident.
Neither Mrs B***** nor the two friends are expected to be witnesses in the case.
Announcing the charge, Scotland Yard said: “Joseph B*****, of Widnes, is due to appear on bail on Monday 26 July at Wimbledon magistrates court charged with assault by beating.
“The charge relates to an incident which took place at a residential property in Kew on Wednesday 2 June in which a woman received a head injury. London Ambulance Service did not attend.”
B***** was on police bail after his initial arrest on the day of the alleged attack, but news of the case did not emerge until this weekend.

He was released on unconditional bail until his trial at Wimbledon magistrates court on December 16. A further case management hearing has been set for November 17.

Jesus Christ. Reads a lot like victim blaming, but it sounds like there is a third party witness to examine. Al Qadi has his headlines now, I assume.

So the wife and the friends aren't going to give evidence. Presumably the phone call to the police was recorded. That may be sufficient in itself.
Meantime, what is Wael going to do. We await the club statement.

Do the only thing you can reasonably do: suspend him until BOTH court cases have been heard.

It's all exactly as said yesterday.
He's the unluckiest person alive.
First the Barnsley manager falls over in front of him and ends up in a bloody heap on the floor, now his Wife strangles herself to the floor, gets a blooded nose and blames him.
Poor Joey, why does this stuff keep happening to him?

Poor Joey, why does this stuff keep happening to him? The most damning thing is that she called the police, 4 days before he went on trial for another assault. Why would she do that?

A further case management hearing has been set for November 17. does anyone know what this is? Another opportunity for witnesses to come forward and for the trial to be referred up (or thrown out), perhaps. It's certainly not a final hearing for trial of evidence.

I'm confused (it doesn't take much!). You registered with the forum on 4th June, yet wrote something on 22 February? Are you a blogger or journalist, and referring to something which you published elsewhere? If so, any chance you could reference it here please, so that it can be read in conjunction with the above post, for clarification. Cheers. Dear fella, I'm no blogger or journalist, although I'd be proud of the latter. No, I'm just Shoveler, writer to Gas Guzzler on and off for many years, but always as Shoveler. I deregistered and spent time away from it until yesterday. The 22nd February correspondence was the thread I titled Joey B***** is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. Good health. Shoves Very confusing - why the need to de-register your account - is is some sort of cleansing of the soul ritual?

So, if his wife called the police and there were two additional witnesses, why are they not going to be giving evidence?
It all makes no sense at all.
