Let's go the whole hog, international leagues with promotion and relegation! You mean a bit like the UEFA Nation$ League? A $h*t $how in its current form - but thin end of the wedge and all that. It wouldn't $urpri$e me to see the current European football champion$hip format eventually replaced by thi$. If FIFA think they can $crew more money out of a bi-annual World Cup, then they will try. Countrie$ would probably like the idea. $eem$ to me the power is very much with the Club$ though...

Let's make it an elite thing... Something like the ESL đź¤, as the not so prolific nations surely could not afford this, Also recall this had been mooted several years ago and fell into the ditch, but as FIFA think that _$ÂŁ is the only thing that is important nowadays it will happen within the next 10 years

Football has never found a golden egg it didn't want to kill. Madness.

It was just another attempt to grab more money from the game we all love. This seems to be the way they do things now. They have a money-making idea, publicise it, see if it gets a good press and work it from there.
But the money-makers will carry on. They’ll come up, the PL clubs or UEFA or FIFA, with another scheme soon. Run it and see the reaction and act upon that. If the reaction is bad, ditch it. Like this bi-ennial World Cup and the European Super League. But some will get through. UTG!

If the media had told us that the ESL was wonderful people would have been on the streets protesting when the idea was dropped. It's a non-argument to suggest that it was 'anti-competitive' when we have clubs paying a hundred million pounds for a player whilst at the other end of the game clubs are running around turning off light bulbs in an effort to save money. And it wasn't any more or less exclusive than the PL anyway, teams could qualify on merit each year for the competition. Exactly the same as the PL. What's my point? It's not so much about testing public reaction, that appears to be driven by what outlets such as Sky tell the masses they should be thinking, it's more about how the people who carry that message to the people react. Anyway, who knows, if we have Euros and World Cups every summer eventually England will win a tournament without having to play a team in the top 10, as so far, behind the massive hype, the actual reality is that Southgate has managed a grand total of 1 victory in a competitive game against a top 10 team.

IMO the WC & Euros should stay as they are, footballers are of course very well paid to do a job, but they are also human beings.
How much they are paid is not the point, humans need to have breaks and rest like all sportsmen and women, or suffer burn-out.
Also i would myself find it rather boring if every year was a big tournament to go to or watch on tv, we the fans need a break too.
Factor in the Olympic Games, Cricket, Rugby et al and you reach saturation point, i like all sports.

Yes, diluting competitions by doubling up or whatever takes the “specialness” away from the competition concerned. And the insistence on filling every month almost with football by the authorities seems to be against common sense. As you say, instead of being special it becomes boring. UTG!
