There is a huge positive to take from Saturday and that is the performance of young Ward.

View AttachmentAt least we have the South West Stand to show our ambition as a club. In my mind it’s every bit as embarrassing as Santa’s grotesque

Unfortunately Dai 'fell out' with Bert Tann (the finest BRFC manager, ever). Dai had to wait his turn. Blimey! we had Bradford, Biggs, Hooper, even wee Georgie scoring goals for fun. The 1950s Rovers were intoxicating and exciting to watch. I'm forever thankful to have had the experience. #UpTheRovers

The most disappointing thing for me today is to see that, even though already relegated, Rochdale, Northampton and Swindon all put up a fight and achieved creditable results but Rovers didn’t. Agree. And Rochdale and Northampton have been doing so for weeks whereas we seem to have given up 6/7 games ago. It was embarrassing, no fight and no pride. I hope someone has had words with the manager about it but I won’t hold my breath. UTG!

I agree. Dai Ward, a goal every other game. When he came in for the injured Bradford in 1956, he went on a goal spree. If we had beaten Liverpool and Leeds in our last two games then welcome Bristol Rovers to the top flight. I can remember a four-minute hat-trick by Dai in that season. Ah well, that's what memories are for. And if they were playing now . . .

I may well have mixed up what my pal said about Dai Ward and Peter Hooper actually. You gents telling your stories makes me think exactly what you just said there Knowall...PH rocket shot, DW wizard. Either way, wonderful memories for you both.
