You gotta score to win games and we just don't look like scoring. The failure to bring a striker in will cost Rovers dearly. Will Widdrington pay? Not a chance..... If Barton goes down we are going to be an absolute laughing stock, well even more than now. League 2, no manager, no bottle, will we still have a team? We’re a laughing stock right now. Sold our souls by hiring Barton and for what? 7 poxy points and he can’t even scrape a win against the dregs of the division. We’re getting exactly what we’ve deserved from the moment we appointed Garner. An absolute dog’s dinner of an operation from top to bottom. Only Gorringe escapes with any credit, for me and even then I’d be very interested to know, as head of the commercial side, whether he backed signing Barton.

Dire, just dire. Westbrooke and Baldwin are two of the clubs worse signings in many a year, and we know all the rest, clearing the experienced players and no transfer window striker. For those who didn't watch it, i can assure you the players gave all they had, but simply aren't good enough, largely L2 standard. Hopefully Widdrington will be shown the door, but as hes on the board i dont know how feasible that is. I actually thought that was the worse effort from the team since Accrington away. We were way off the pace and effort that we had been putting in until now. Swindon looked poor but got better and we got even worse as the game went on. If that's all they had then we are fooked.

Words fail me this evening.
We played really well, got a deserved goal (disallowed of course), then get sucker punched right at the end as always.
I am utterly deflated and it hurts even to talk about it.
We had really good chances, they will just not go in. Both Ayunga and Hanlan had good games tonight, all that is missing is the goal.
It is so frustrating!

Perhaps it will take us hitting the foot of the table to turn things around? Who knows.
The disallowed goal (which was perfectly fine) sums up the story of the last calendar year: which isn't one of us being endlessly unlucky. It started with hiring Ben Garner... and, four managers later, here we are. Thinking about it, we've had more managers than strikers.
Mentally, we look completely lost. The lack of late goals in games (we've only scored 1 after 80 mins all season) clearly suggests there isn't the fight. That's not to say we aren't trying. We are. But there's a big difference between "huffing and puffing" and actually scoring goals when it matters.
As Emperor says, we don't get the ball down in midfield and play through. Instead, Hanlan almost always has his back to goal when receiving the ball.
Three years now of appalling home form. We've lost more matches than we've won and barely scored a goal a game.

He’ll have to become a pundit instead of sowing division among fanbases.

Widdrington told us otherwise and is a l***g ***t.

It really is the hope that kills you, isn't it! Sick of hearing "we were much the better team against: Wigan, Wimbledon, Charlton (first half), Gillingham (first half) etc etc Emperor is right. We have spells in games where we to flatter to deceive. Having shots without actually creating chances. We've tested the Swindon keeper once. I think the Hanlan chance was only half golden, the ayunga chance it had to come down for him to hit it. But he didn’t bust net. What happened with their score, so many bodies none of them moving or pressing? I’m going to say it again, sorry for being boring. We played second half with three centre backs. We upped tempo after half time and had Westbrook in a hole; but as soon as Swindle put tyeir foot on the ball they found we had surrendered midfield.

Emperor has made some good points about how he has sat on his hands whilst we get outnumbered in the midfield. The players might be s**te but Barton is not showing any signs of mitigating their s**teness with his managerial nous.

Another six pointer lost at home. We never score late goals.
Sunderland and Ipswich next looking grim now.

I'm sick to death of him falling over and being bullied off the ball. I have never felt so depressed about our team and club's future, even dare I say more than after Atkins 0-4 at Chester.....

This goes back to WAQs dream of youngsters, tippy tappy, sell them etc.
GCs winners were dismantled by Ben Garner, a man blessed with the opposite of the Midas touch. The lesser known s***ass touch.Everything he touched turned to s***.
Paul Tisdale was stabbed in the back by our deaf, dumb and blind Recruitment officer. Widdrington must go.
Joey Barton has inherited a 4th tier squad at best. The penny may drop even yet,as I posted earlier in this thread. We have maybe 3 games for individuals to improve and effect the team in a positive way.We might then earn enough to stay up.Let's face it,I'm hoping against hope and we will probably go down. You never know though.
This era, since GC left has been on par with dropping out of the EFL.Absolute crass rubbish.

Trying my best to dredge something positive, as is my way. We only have to finish 20th and I am sure there will be many twists and turns yet to this season.
That's the faint hope that I am clinging to right now...

I don’t want to inflame the Joey Barton fan club, but big name Charlie’s don’t necessarily make great managers. Lots of top stars under great managers in trophy laden sides tried it to excitement of chairmen and fans, before it becomes clear they just haven’t got it. if Tisdale had stayed would he have done as bad from this run of fixtures? Tisdale given strikers he wanted? Garner given the Coppell he wanted, would he have flopped like Joey in these bottom of table fixtures? Why did we not want Coppell? Did the board fear he would have more idea than them?

Do you know for a fact that Garner wanted Coppell and the Board turned down this request?
First I have heard of it but interested in the facts.
