That's the issue I thought of with the height of the main stand at Brentford. Would we get away height wise and would we need to lose the car parking? I think 17,500 would definitely suit until we get into Europe like City82...... Maybe not - but wouldn't we have the potential to put a bigger stand at the other end to make up for that? Going way back when we originally moved in I remember there being a plan (that didn't get very far) to put 2 big all seater stands on the Centenary and Clubhouse sides. Then there was the plan to move the ground up a bit so you could get a bigger stand at the South End etc. Never really understood why we didn't just stick to delivering on that plan. Always seemed the simplist approach to me. I suppose we just never had a realistic plan to finance it.
Personally I quite like the quirky non-standard look of Brentford's ground. It gives it some relative character compared to the identikit new build stadiums which go up that all basically look the same.
The scheme that was approved with the student flats is right on the limit of what is acceptable height wise. Any taller and it blocks too much light to the housing around the stadium. City’s Atyeo stand was limited in height for the same reason.

The eye of the griffin. A wonderfully innovative design that shows what can be done it tight spaces. The only downer is the capacity of 17,250. Big enough for us.

Those seats really are horrible though. Wimbledon's new ground seems to have them as well. I did hear somewhere that it's to give the impression of the ground being fuller than it actually is. As rank s**te ideas in ground design go, that's right up there.
