Just looking at it for the first time. 17,250 capacity and fitted in to a site similar to The Mem. Looking from the South Stand/Tent end, this built in BS7 would do us wouldn't it?

I’m personally not a big fan of the design. A bit lopsided and irregular for my liking and the seating colour pattern is nasty.
That said, as Rovers fans we can only dream of a development like that happening to us.
If we did build something at BS7, 17.5k is roughly the capacity we would need

As for the colour scheme, I don't think we should shun the idea because of the colour of the seats.

I like it and hope the Bees (red and white?) get promoted.
I would want a minimum 20,000 capacity at the Mem.

The mem has a lot of development potential as the 2009 plans show if the owners want to realise it. Just was giving my opinion on the aesthetics of Brentford’s new stadium in general. Not a fan myself but can see how others would like it.

They made a conscious decision to go for a lower capacity ie 17,250 as they felt this was enough for them even in the Premier League. Increased TV money would more than make up for fewer punters through the turnstiles.
That number IMO would be fine for us.
Why would we need a 25,000 or 30,000 capacity?

For the odd "once in a blue moon" big cup game!! But you're right, doubt we're going to get 20k plus crowds anytime in the foreseeable future.

They had a pocket of land between railway lines to construct that if I recall, did a good job maximising the space I reckon. I think the idea with the seat colouring is that the stands give the impression that they are fuller to capacity than they might actually be on let’s say a less supported fixture. I first saw this employed at The Gabba in Brisbane.

I thought Trump had returned to ignore covid once more. They actually had a 20,000 crowd with 60,000 cardboard cutouts. Obviously our border/railway lines would be the back gardens of Strathmore Road.

Well as has been pointed out by bloo, for big games. Also,if Rovers made the 2nd tier, then you never know,we might drag quite a few away from their Sky dish Premier club. I remember at St Jakobs,FC Basel.40,000-ish capacity that went up to about 48,000 I think. A 14,000 crowd could create a decent atmosphere. So 8000 Rovers supporters,in a 20,000 Mem,would just have to throw their heads back and give it some Gashead gusto! Minimum 20,000 imo.

Some might argue we already have enough cardboard in the boardroom and on the coaching staff...

Would we get away height wise and would we need to lose the car parking? I think 17,500 would definitely suit until we get into Europe like City82......

I would have said the Mem estate is a good bit bigger than Brentford’s patch of land?

The eye of the griffin. A wonderfully innovative design that shows what can be done in tight spaces. The only downer is the capacity of 17,250.

Maybe not - but wouldn't we have the potential to put a bigger stand at the other end to make up for that? Going way back when we originally moved in I remember there being a plan (that didn't get very far) to put 2 big all seater stands on the Centenary and Clubhouse sides. Then there was the plan to move the ground up a bit so you could get a bigger stand at the South End etc. Never really understood why we didn't just stick to delivering on that plan. Always seemed the simplist approach to me. I suppose we just never had a realistic plan to finance it.
Personally I quite like the quirky non-standard look of Brentford's ground. It gives it some relative character compared to the identikit new build stadiums which go up that all basically look the same.
