If they do it well it will be cracking stadium.
All these new stadia are like something out of IKEA, same basic design, same acoustics, same concourses, same seat spacing all for the mass consuming womble.
Let's have a nice mix of new, old, stands, seating, different sizes, little symmetry, get all the gaps filled in and better conditions for the away fans.
A place that fans enjoy for it's idiosyncratic nature, the last of which I visited was the Dell.

Brilliant bit of news to Bury back news about Barton and deflect attention from him.
Hope the Horfield residents are happy with arrangements
Can see the Greens having a head fit!

Nice one on propaganda news deflection! The Greens logically should support redeveloping Mem....if we were out of town, car congestion, if we were fruit market they'd have to redesign infrastructure. The Mem offers plenty of public transportation (tick), walking opportunity (tick), cycling/scooter use (tick) and local independent business establishments (tick).

I get the impression that there will be additions to the East stand, not a total redevelopment. Not sure how seats can be put into east terrace, no cover and the steps up to the stand take up quite a bit of space.
Interesting things for architects to work on.

Thinking that something along the lines of the old 'waq shack' either side of the east stand, thats phase 2 according to the owner, need to get phase 1 finished first.

When I heard this news yesterday, it made me so happy!
I have been an advocate for the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium throughout.
It is our home. We now have history here.
The compact nature of the site will produce an amazing atmosphere, and if done right will be a stadium full of character and one we can be proud of.
Interesting that they are developing the east side first. Many on here (including me) would have done the North end first, but the East side has the most potential in terms of capacity. You could potentially build a structure behind the terrace without losing too much capacity (only the seating).
I cannot wait to see the plans!

The South West Stand has great potential for character from the off as the design is from the 1950’s. (No sour grapes, I’m chuffed we have built it and got rid of the tents).

Everything is relative.Radio 5 saying about Man U's problems and how everyone knows Old Trafford is falling behind and 'Needs more than a lick of paint. Few years ago we played Alfreton and an elderly fan of theirs I spoke to became very emotional and said ,'I never dreamt we'd ever be playing at big stadiums like this'.

Yes everything is relative Colyton. Whilst the Alfreton fan found the ground akin to being at a ‘big’ club, even my PL supporting sons, Everton and an AFCB fan are sometimes jealous of me! Esp the Everton fan. As he says they’ve had nothing to cheer for 25 years. For a big club like them avoiding relegation isn’t really something to cheer about, just a sense of relief followed by embarrassment. Esp when I tell him we’ve had 4 promotions in that time. (I don’t think too much of the relegations we’ve had!)
UTG!

That wasn't because of their success.

How can everything be relative?
If so, there would be nothing absolute for it to be relative to.

I went to watch Bristol play rugby today
Say what you want about the people in it on other Saturdays, but it's a very nice stadium now
Which is a bit dispiriting, but if we get permission the South Stand and another improvement to the Quarters will be more steps forward

In 1958,Wolves planned a new Stadium.Never came to fruition but their new plans seem very likely to go ahead. In those far off Days,Wolverhampton was in Staffordshire.
