"We wanted to bring in young, hungry players ..."
Sound familiar? That came from Mark Yates's column in the CTFC pre-season programme.
It seems to be the manager buzz-phrase. Add it to your 'Football manager interview bingo card' now.
Which brings me to Ryan Higgins. If anyone fits that description it must be him. He was the player I was most impressed with in the pre-season games I saw, and had good reviews from others in the games I didn't get to watch.
He was on trial and now I haven't heard his name mentioned for ages, not even on DC's last couple of transfer up date interviews.
I'm willing to give Leadbitter a chance, but we could have done with cover for him after his injury against Grimsby.
It can't be easy playing on trial for a club. It must be going through your mind how you approach it: you want to stand out and impress, but at the same time show you are a team player. Do you play conservatively, or do you take risks?
The lad even played for Birmingham for free last season.
If we don't offer him a contract I hope someone signs him up as I'm sure he has a lot to offer.
