Rovers have drawn Walsall and Oxford United in their EFL trophy group with as yet an unknown drawn Under 21 club. That will be known tomorrow.
Matches may or may not have a limited attendance. Many gasheads may be washing their hair and boycotting the competition again.

I was hoping recent events might have seen the end of this competition.

Everything in football seems a little bizarre these days, but is there any possible reason that the Under21 teams are drawn the day after us plebs in L1&2?
One would think that the EFL are approaching the Premier League clubs in wealth order to ask who they want to avoid.

I'd be happy to see DC at the Mem. I couldn't care less about MT. I hope nobody cares about the Prem B cup. Reserve team football is for reserve teams. That's all I got.

I was hoping recent events might have seen the end of this competition. The flip side is that this competition is perfectly suited to current circumstances I think the whole thing should be played by the end of September. We'd be missing nothing

I'd happily go to the Walsall game, that bloody virus permitting, just to welcome back Darrell.

In the spirit of AMPG's post on another thread (that we should pin certain fundamentals), I make no apology for repeating my reason for the boycott:
"We need to highlight that the changes to this competition could be the first step to inclusion of B teams in the lower leagues. That would destroy the integrity of the Football League and, through the consequent devaluation of the League matches, towards the demise of clubs who normally play at the lower corners of the Football League pyramid".
I was thinking of writing to the Football League to say that I would support the competition if they would only make a statement to the tune of "the Football League will never include B teams in the lower leagues".
Meanwhile: do we know that the Rovers v Walsall match will be that way round, for DC to return to the Mem? Or could we be away?

The club historian doesn't even know the name of the competition he so salivates after.

We'd be missing nothing So the game we have the best chance of actually attending (reduced capacity fits perfectly for the checkaturd trophy or whatever it's called this year), is the competition we are mostly likely to boycott.

I'm with you, but it does pre-suppose that the Football League retains some integrity. Events over the past 12 months have led me to seriously doubt this.
