Eye of the beholder, each to their own and so on. He defo got results and it can be argued that is everything in football. I wish him well, but time to put our faith and hope into BG. Absolutely agree,I will be cheering BGs team on,no doubt about that.Ben had nothing to do with GCs exit. The 'passing game' Gasheads got their way, from El Presidente to the terraces but it appears to of been at the expense of a genuine promotion chance.A high price to pay, especially as so far BG has failed regarding results and any style on the field of play. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but some can see beauty in different styles of the game. GC did a fantastic job,we could now be looking forward to a 2nd tier season. That is a perfectly realistic view.He did not deserve to be sacrificed at the alter of the glorious "passing game". As Paul Trollope use to say "we are where we are" (where is PT?) and as I 'said' I'll be cheering on the BG Rovers. I have always loved seeing underdogs out perform 'better' teams and maybe that's why I liked GC so much. I was pretty s**t myself, but I shall always remember playing in the lower reaches of the Bristol & District in a team that had some very good players (some who became semi pro) and their mates (people like me), we struggled for results and an older bloke form the pub who was half decent and hard as nails offered to join and got us promotion (my only ever honour in football) One of his early team talks remains with me to this day . 'I'll kick that **** there and that **** over there, they won't want to know it. Nige, take advantage of that, Rex & Andy , try and not get in the way' I like to think I played my part.

But good old Graham left us so its moot point isn't it? Seems to be some revisionist history going on here and the narrative is that we got rid of the nasty man and his winning football for some puritan.
By the time we beat Ipswich I think even the moaners were starting to get behind him and there was a real head of steam building and if he had stayed who knows what might have happened last year. However the main point is he didn't stay. For whatever reason he bottled it halfway through the year to drop a league for more money and to be closer to home.
So by all means hanker for that lost promotion but only one man ruined it and it wasn't the fella who took over...

The whole thing makes no sense to me - why would he leave after finally getting the crowd on board and that win? He did though and that torpedoed the season. I can't say I believe too much in conspiracies that he was pushed considering he was meant to be Martin Starnes man and we were in our best position in years for promotion?

He made comments hinting at something. Had I ever liked him, I would have minded. But it was a shame to abandon the campaign.

I still think it's more to do with the family thing as Mansfield made no sense otherwise.

I hope I am wrong, but I see us getting bullied when the new season starts, not convinced at all that the style of play that BG wants will bring us the success we yearn. In my book he is already on borrowed time, we need to start the season well to have any hope that the players will buy into Garnerball. Yep,I hope our midfield can battle for the ball as Ollie and Abu can. I assume Josh Garner can stick a tackle in,not sure about the rest. Having lost track of the stream of incoming players... I actually googled Josh Garner. Oopsy. I don't think Josh Barrett looked like much of a tough tackler, good on the ball though. Josh Grant - can't find much info on him. Don't think Cameron Hargreaves will be getting too many starts? So I'm still not sure about how much 'bite' we will have in mid-field. Anyway - now I've actually learned some of the players names, I can look forward to the Exeter game...

As said,if he can't who can?

Could someone perhaps point to the evidence that BG's teams played 'better' football than GC's?
With GC I saw an ugly ugly football team that seemed greater than the sum of its parts and managed to grind out results (somehow). With BG's I saw a complete shambles where half the players didn't seem to have a clue where they were supposed to be going once they got the ball in the oppositon's half......and we were still ugly....and we weren't picking up any points.
I understand that he now has his own players in and can properly impose his pattern of play etc. But I do not really understand why so many are now so convinced that we are on the verge of becoming the North Bristol Brazil (unless it was the version that got smashed 8-1 by Germany.....).
I'm not calling for BG's head or anything ridiculous like that but the fact is that, as those match threads show, the performances of his teams left a lot to be desired to say the least and as of yet he has done asbolutely nothing to suggest that he's capable of managing at this level. I sincerely hope he now proves himself, and I think there's a decent chance he will, but I also think it's fair to say that he has a lot to prove and the jury is very definitely still out.

7-1 Irish, 7-1. Tsk tsk. Christ - my memory is getting bad. I watched that game with a group of increasingly depressed Brazilians as well. I should have gotten that one right!
