1. Mike Barrett, Rickie Lambert, Marcus Stewart, David Williams
2. Geoff Bradford, Rickie Lambert, Stuart Taylor, Alfie Biggs
Glad to see Dr F chose Mickey Barrett too. A ridiculously skilful player who would have gone on to great things. I have fond memories of watching him beat four players in a row in one game, (well strictly speaking three, as he beat one of them twice).

1989-2020 Lee Brown. The first player to pledge his future to Rovers after our relegation to non-league. There must be a God, because he was then rewarded with THAT goal. Barry Hayles. Took my son (aged 3 1/2) to his first ever Rovers game and it was Barry's first game (home to Plymouth). That hooked him for life. Stuart Sinclair. Embodied the Rovers fighting spirit for me. I miss him. I still want to buy him a pint. Rickie Lambert. I can't help myself - here it is again.

But I think Walker’s second at Wembley v Shrewsbury when it came over his shoulder and he put it into the goal comes pretty close. Great technical goal in a Wembley final!! If either of those goals had been on MOTD by a PL striker they would have been shown over and over again. UTG!

Great Thread Irish - difficult to single out 4 in either category. I've had a go anyway.
1. Devon White - my all time ever favourite player, not only for making the most of limited ability, but for demolishing the inherent acceptance of racism amongst our crowd up to that point David Williams - the most accomplished midfield player I've seen in a Rovers shirt Mickey Barrett - as others have said, electrifying on his day Andy Tillson - the most composed defender I've seen in a Rovers shirt.
Close to making the cut were Andy Reece, David Pritchard, Mark McChrystal, Frankie Prince and Barry Hayles
2. Geoff Bradford - will we ever see another of our players earn a full England cap whilst playing for us, and have a 100% goal/games ratio in the process? Sturt Taylor - appearance Record says it all - unlikely to ever be beaten in my opinion Lee Mansell - for that goal to ensure our non-league humiliation was for one season only. As much of a Gashead now as a Gull, and loved equally by both sets of fans. Andy Rammell - for saving us from non-league ignominy. Little did he (and we) know that the reprieve would only be temporary. Real shame we never had him in his prime rather than at the end of his career. A real war horse and battering ram that we would have loved.
Close to making the cut - Ian Holloway, David Williams, Vaughan Jones, Phil Bater, Frankie Prince and Lee Brown

To understand the quality of this, don't look just at the strike, look at the keeper, he didn't move, then look at Andy Williams, he's still trying to work out where the ball is after Rickie has hit it. I wasn't at Brighton for the 8-2, but I was there for this goal. There was a second of stunned silence before anybody celebrated.

Stands up after the wonder strike, arms out-stretched in a "what the f*ck was that?" moment.

I wasn’t there so perhaps being there is part of the process of thinking it’s the best goal ever, if you witness it it always remains with you. As I said, it may be the best goal ever but it looks like Rickie had his eye on the ball for some time, Richard Walker, at Wembley, wouldn’t have seen the ball for long and had to twist to get the shot in. And the keeper did try and keep it out but it was just perfectly placed and he had little chance. Whatever, both fantastic goals and, as ever, it’s a question of personal preference. UTG!

Thread seems to have been resurrected so if people are interested please do continue to chime in. Also feel free to go in a different direction - I liked the Managers ones and the teams. Lots of things you can do with this (could take it position by position for example if you realkt want a challenge). But for the ones I originally suggested the results at the moment are;
The Mt Rushmore of Rovers Players people have seen play;
1.Rickie Lambert 2.David Williams 3.Mickey Barrett 4.Andy Tilson
Probably says something about the spread of people posting on here more than anything else but this was a pretty diverse set of players. Lambert is the only majority selection - way out in front. David Williams is the next highest. Closely followed by Mickey Barrett and Andy Tilson. Currently just missing out on forum immortality are Marcus Stewart, Paul Randall, Ian Holloway, Lee Brown and Barry Hayles. We also had votes for Jason Roberts, Vaughan Jones, Stuart Campbell, Tony Craig, Mark MCchrystal, Bruce Bannister, Chris Lines, Lee Mansall, Matt Taylor, Carl Saunders, Steve Yates, Stuart Sinclair, David Pritchard and Devon White.
For someone of my generation it is interesting to see so many pick David Williams. I thought Ollie was a shoe in for this one but obviously not. Also a bit surprised there's no one out there who holds a candle for players like Nigel Martyn, Gary Penrice, David Mehew, Jamie Cureton, Nathan Ellington, Mark Walters, Gareth Taylor, Richard Walker or Steve Elliot.
The All Time Rovers Mt Rushmore is currently;
1.Geoff Bradford 2.Stuart Taylor 3/4 Alfie Biggs
3/4 Ian Holloway
3/4 Rickie Lambert
As would be expected a far narrower selection of players here. Bradford and Taylor are both big majority selections as you'd expect but we currently have a 3 way tie for the 3rd and 4th spot on the mountain with one of Biggs, Holloway or Lambert missing out unless the SC can raise money to pay the sculptor overtime......Just behind those 3 are Gerry Francis, Matt Taylor, Paul Randall and Lee Mansell (bit of a surprise choice to be in serious running for all-time consideration I'd say). Others to receive votes are Jason Roberts, Peter Hooper, Alan Warboys, Bruce Bannister, Lee Brown and Andy Rammell.
