15 February 1958 Bristol City 3 Bristol Rovers 4 Fa cup One of the most famous local derbies. Geoff Bradford scored a late winner. It has been a while since we had a Derby can’t see that changing anytime soon.

Was there. Before the game we paraded a banner around the pitch prior to the game-allowed then-saying 'FOUR MORE GEOFF' which was a reference to Geoff Bradford having scored four the week before.Made the match report in the 'Pink-'Un that evening. Great to see Dai Ward's natural athleticism on display and Peter Hooper shooting with his right foot!!!!!!!!!!

Was eight years of age. Went to the Mansfield and Burnley cup matches, but my Dad wouldn’t take me to Ashton Gate, due to the huge crowd expected, and crush fears. No Soccer Saturday or score updates in those. days, so no idea of the score. Remember sitting in the bath in Kingswood, listening to the beginning of Sports Report. Will never forget the tension as the announcer began with Bristol City 3, then the lilt in his voice as he uttered the magic words, Bristol Rovers 4! The match was only a couple of weeks after the Munich Air disaster,,very sad to hear about the death of Harry Gregg yesterday. Remember him making some fantastic saves in an international between England and N.Ireland a few months before the crash, one of the Wednesday afternoon home international matches. Had a convenient illness to get off school in the late 50s to see Dai Ward play for Wales against England in one of the other matches live on TV. Green Un and Pink Un days!

Friend of mine johnny watkins scored for city and i believe he also missed a penalty in that game. I wish decent film existed of more games from the 50's and earlier.

On the pitch and taunting the Rovers keeper after their 3rd goal, typical,I bet they shut right up when Rovers winner went in.
The best derby that I attended at AG the FA cup game when Paul Randall scored after they went 1-0 up and Rovers won 3-1,Rovers could have had 5 or 6 that day. There was also a evening league game at AG in 75, a draw, the crowd was massive as city were still in with a chance of promotion, they needed to win that game so their supporters weren't happy afterwards,we were though.

I was 12, stood behind the goal with my dad, at the end that Geoff got the winner. Got a feeling that we were in the home end! Lived to tell the tale.

And Beadle's lethal double in 96 I think..big crowd, got in late, great atmos, went berserk..oh yeah and his late equaliser live on Sky when they showed their true colours at the end😁..UTG!

In 75 the capacity there was around 40,000 and although the crowd given out was nowhere near that in reality it couldn't have been a lot less as the ground was packed and they couldn't have got many more in there,Rovers used to be given the whole open end then.

I have looked up the attendances The 96 game 20,007 (plus the locked out). 75 game, 28,953...if I am correct and the capacity at AG then was 40,000 there is no way that they could have fitted another 11,000 into the ground that night. Just a thought, even if the the crowd was 28,953 there will never be a crowd that big at a football match in Bristol again.
