Divide the number of times the club has made the 3rd tier playoffs with the total number of seasons the club has played in the 3rd tier I'd say the chances of reaching the playoffs are slim as always.

Divide the number of times the club has made the 3rd tier playoffs with the total number of seasons the club has played in the 3rd tier I'd say the chances of reaching the playoffs are slim as always. Consider only the seasons since 1962-63, when Rovers started in the Third Division (after the divisions were re-organised from Third (South) and Third (North)). Rovers finished in a play-off position (or would have, if the play-offs had been invented) on eleven occasions, plus two automatic promotions, out of a total of 36 seasons in the third tier. So, a better than 36% probability of play-offs or promotion this season? I'd take that! Sources: Bristol Rovers FC A Complete Record 1883-1987 A history of Bristol's Oldest Professional Football Club Mike Jay Soccerbase.com
P.S. In the years from 1920 to 1952-53, the ratio was 1 "play-off position" and 1 first-place in 26 years in Div 3 (S).

When JCH signed for us, his former manager, Mark Robins, said in the local Coventry press that he'd signed a contract that will set him up for life.
Financially he doesn't need to move. I suppose it's one of those 'stick or twist' situations: - Do you take a move to increase your wages, to play at a higher level, to challenge yourself - when there is no guarantee you'll achieve the same amount of success as you have been? or - Do you stay where you enjoying the best part of your career, where you're appreciated by fans and colleagues - but, maybe, just maybe, you could be achieving the same further up the pyramid?
Anyway, he's still with us, which is great.

Obviously I am glad that JCH is staying. We know on his day he can win games pretty much on his own (ref: Jan-May 2019). Does anyone know if a bid actually came in for him? Seems like people are suggesting we turned down a decent bid to retain his services. I would have thought a £1mil+ bid and he's out the door in nano-seconds... The truth is out there somewhere.

I'am assuming the club expected to get £750,000 - £1,000,000 and budgeted for JCH to move on - however it's a lot of 'poke' for interested Clubs to lay out on a player that is a bit of a sick note. So brilliant result for us, when he's on form he would not look out of place in a Premier League Club. Couple of weeks for the players to gel in and playoffs could be back on again!
