Not a chance. Down at the DSS Arena they threw a wobbly because the supporters wanted to show a big England flag the day they played Cardiff. I kid you not, the stewards stopped the flag being shown. Oh my god!? (Am I allowed to say that, or is that offending Atheists?) I think you just offended all of the grown up people who still have an invisible friend by not using a capital G in God.

12 Pages and counting on the gasw**ks forum 'Shreek Horror' Show. As far as Iam concerned the Taylor Chant was going to far after all without his goals we might still be in the Conference. On the flipside If he had stayed we might have made it into the Championship and he would have been a Gas legend. Yes is is a traitor and that is unforgiveable but the chant was in poor taste. Nevertheless, the North Terrace is a throwback to the seventies and may well be the only place left in England where you can sample a real football atmosphere. So lets enjoy it while we still can and instead of moaning about our boy's we should be proud of of them. Keep' doing what your doing chaps, sing, shout, dance and please continue to take ' the piss ' at every opportunity! UTG

Wow.
Can anyone explain to me how homophobia is acceptable in the 21st Century?
It's really not difficult.

UTG Trouble is we need matty taylor or some noisy brighton supporters to get our fans going, the rest of the time its pretty quiet. If the north terrace is the only place to sample a real football atmosphere the game is in big trouble.

He would also have gone by now. Maybe just not there

Wow. Can anyone explain to me how homophobia is acceptable in the 21st Century? It's really not difficult. So would it be funny if the chants were racist but funny? Not acceptable Homophobic not acceptable Some clubs do some don't. Cardiff do, 1982 do, Watford and Wycombe don't and it won't harm us to not either

I must be getting old, but can anyone who gets annoyed, offended, worried etc, about someone's sexuality/race/religion, please explain to me: 1) Why, 2) Are you actually threatened, 3) Why again, you silly twat.

I think I get it. i am clearly a dinosaur, I struggle to play the guitar with my tiny arms. But yeah mocking someone for their race or sexuality is something you don't do it in the 21st century. Wishing someone dead shows no wit whatsoever. I'm more disappointed by that part than outraged, I am sure we used to be funnier. Ragging Clive Walker with "flasher, flasher show us your knob" is something he probably didn't enjoy at the time, but wasn't just witless abuse.

Unfortunately it's doing what they've always done because they've always done it, getting the same result, but the world around changes and they get left behind and can't cope with the change. Same in all walks of life. Anti City songs are ok, its rivalry, abuse is not. I'll say it again for about the 5th time since last Saturday's game, to sing that song about Taylor or anyone being dead in the wake of a minutes applause for someone who had died showed a total lack of class and Junior's family would not have been impressed. Taylor failed in the game without that. We could have been comical without being abusive and tasteless. But we don't do change, or clever just revert to type.

Boring ain’t it, gay jokes about Brighton got boring in 1984. I'm with you there. I think the first time I heard the ' We can see you holding hands' chant and the variations and retorts to it, I probably cracked a smile, but they really have been done to death now. There aren't many chants that remain amusing after they have been heard for the nth time, although the 'ginger haired ****' song and 'Lescott ready to rumble', which I believe, may have been your own handiwork, are honourable exceptions

This is all a simple misunderstanding, officer.
During the game with Oxford, the chant I heard was 'we're all having a party when Matty Taylor TRIES' - such is our sportsmanlike support of a former player's work rate and effort upon his return to the Memorial Stadium.
During the Brighton game, the chant I heard was 'you're just a town full of FENDERS' - clearly in reference to the high volume of music shops and guitar outlets in Brighton, a critique of their lack of retail variety.
All a simple misunderstanding.

My immediate thought about this communique was that BRFC is trying to be shown to be doing something and threatening bans; it was partly (mostly?) aimed at the FA, Kick It Out etc. FA observers, you know the ones in collar and tie wearing a Barbour, are bound to write comments in reports. Despite the number of stewards (both static and patrolling), CCTV, undercover 'sneaky beakies' etc very few people are lifted. BBC picked up on the story and gave it a positive spin for BRFC. Personally I like a bit of terrace humour, but some of the stuff aimed at MT was clearly OTT and wrong; I was glad when he went off and the game of football became the focus. A good game of football can produce this sought after atmosphere not yelling vile insults.

Well done! My subtle small 'g' and capital 'A' (atheists) was noticed. A curly wurly for you, sir! (If that hasn't offended the shavers).
