Wales can call on some true world class players (Bale comes to mind) but have to make up the numbers with players of dubious, er, quality. Re Tom, it doesn't look like any really good /big club fancied him. Charlton have problems of their own, could well come straight back down & wanted players on the cheap.

Brilliant move for lockyer in my view. Chance to play in the championship which these days is like being promoted 2 divisions. Plenty of good players there and a club with a great history. How often have we finished above them in the last hundred years i wonder?

Next question: why have you neglected the even better young Welsh players, Shoves?

How often have we finished above them in the last hundred years i wonder? The straight answer is - very rarely. We did so in 2017 (10th versus 13th in the third tier). Before that it was 1991. Six times between 1973 and 1981. 1959. And four times in the 1920's (or five if you count 1920-21 when Charlton were in the Southern League). Click on the image to view it. Note that the graph treats a Div 3 South position pre-1959 equivalent to a Div 3 position post-1959 (ignoring clubs in Div 3 North). So the drop into Div 4 (and below) post-2000 is exaggerated.

Eastville Legend? Think you're getting him mixed up with Stuart Taylor. Stuart is now very ill with the dementia. I’ve asked his partner if visits would be welcomes and she said thank you for the thought but no. He can get very agitated. He was my landlord for a couple of years, early 90’s. Had me running until I vomited. Soon stopped training with him lol
