Unless Wael has something definitive to say... there would appear to be very little point to this interview. So fingers crossed there is something he actually wants to convey. Maybe it's a preemptive strike to prepare us for the 2017-2018 accounts that have to be published by the end of the month? I remember 20man gave him quite a hard time a year or so ago and nothing significant has changed. He took Wael to task over rather fluffy "mission statements" and asked him about the lack of any coherent strategy to actually meet the overall objectives. Let's hope we're all pleasantly surprised. Hope springs eternal. UTG. By now we should have received notice of the AGM - does anyone know why not? Added to which the Accounts paperwork has yet to be filed at Companies House and are overdue. Someone was complaining after the game on Saturday that bills are being paid late again - is that true? Perhaps it is all just lazy accounting or is there anything more sinister? Is the Club solvent? Could this be the real reason the training ground is not happening, and all those offers to buy the Club come to nothing? Perhaps someone could enlighten us because the interview with the President told us nothing. WE REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON Fanatical by name, fanatical by nature

The future is brighter than it was a few months ago (league position), but it could be a lot brighter subject to some matters being resolved.

Tis the 9th. If they are still not filed it would seem something is amiss or afoot? Maybe or maybe not

I'll back our owners when they actually deliver something tangible. ie a new stadium, a substantially redeveloped Mem or a Training Facility. They have been here over 3 years now. Talk is cheap.

absent the timely information required by the regulatory bodies, would anyone care to speculate? there isn't much speculation on here, so I'll have a little speculate.... WAQ is a bit caught between a rock (no plan) and a hard place (a family who won't continue to, as BoJo might put it, 'spaff the cash' much longer) the only stadium in town is UWE. And, if the uweperson who posted on this thread is to be believed (and I've really no idea - but I'm suspicious of a newbie), UWE won't deal with WAQ. (Also, whilst I've seen signs that WAQ might live in dreamland, DC says only good things about him, and apart from the waffle he doesn't seem like a wrong 'un at all) so someone is trying to revive UWE. Having read Browner's book, I'm thinking that the building company from Hampshire is in fact from Wiltshire, but I'm not at all sure that they are key. Those Merchant Venturer chappies see this town as their turf, and they are the ones who could get something going if required - they have the network that WAQ doesn't (and doesn't seem to have built, in spite of the consultancy fees?) but unless the family push him, WAQ doesn't have to sell. And if he does, what does he do next - this is his one big chance in the sport he loves? and what would the MV's want to do next - there is usually one individual driving this sort of thing, and I've no idea which one it would be?

Not much speculation because there is nothing to go on. We have no idea what Wael Al-Qadis next move is, and I don't think he does. Listen to his "Nothing concrete" interview. I am led to believe that a third party tried to revive the UWE last year and that failed. UWE is now officially dead. The UWE's passed on. This project is no more. The UWE has ceased to be. The UWE's expired and gone to meet it's maker. The UWE's a stiff. Bereft of life, rests in peace. If Dwane Sports hadn't screwed up due diligence we might have had some kind of credible plan by now. UWE's metabolic processes are now history. UWE's off the twig. UWE's kicked the bucket. UWE's shuffled off it's mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible! This is an ex-project. Whilst I'd like to think that some deal with Merchant Venturers is a possibility, I'd hesitate to give that more than 1% probability. We are up a certain creek without a paddle and this has been apparent for over 18 months now. Happy Easter.

Here's an extract from the Football Supporters' Federation's report on the survey they carried out on club engagement with fans: Supporter groups across the country say that clubs are meeting their obligations around fan engagement but there remains a handful of clubs where significant improvement is needed â according to the results of a national survey.
Last year the Football Supportersâ Federation and Supporters Direct (SD) surveyed affiliated fan groups to find out how Premier League and EFL clubs were implementing their âstructured dialogueâ commitments.
Since 2016, clubs have been required to meet with their supporters to discuss club matters under Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) guidelines. This "structured dialogue" is now in the English Football League (EFL) and Premier League rule books.
Research carried out by the Football Supporters' Federation and Supporters Direct shows that most clubs are engaging with their supporters and fielding appropriate club officials (such as owners, directors or senior executives) â but there is room for improvement.
The FSF and SD both surveyed specific contacts and affiliated supporter groups and/or trusts with 73 out of 92 clubs covered within the results. Hereâs what supporter groups told us:
84% of clubs are meeting with supporters at least twice per season, which is in line with government guidelines. This matches our previous surveyâs results, which reported 85%. 94% of clubs are fielding appropriate people â either owners, directors and/or senior executives. This is up 8% from the previous yearâs survey result (86%). 39% of respondents said their club either misunderstands or doesnât act upon structured dialogue, although this is an improvement as almost half (48%) of fan representatives said the same last year.
Both the Premier League and EFL have work to do when it comes to building trust among fan groups as 86% didnât believe, or were unsure, that clubs would be sanctioned by a league for not conforming to regulations. Deborah Dilworth from Supportersâ Direct said: âOur survey shows dialogue between supporters and their clubs is in a healthy state, but unfortunately there remains a handful of clubs where this isnât the case. âThereâs definitely room for improvement and weâll continue to support fans at clubs where the governmentâs guidelines arenât being met.â
The survey also revealed supporters wanted a standardised minimum level of information to be shared ahead of meetings and for a clear distinction between promotional or social fans forum-style events and structured dialogue meetings - where 52% of fans wanted to hear from CEOs on more difficult topics such as ownership and financial data.
The FSF and SD will continue to raise cases where structured dialogue guidelines arenât being adhered to with DCMS, the EFL and Premier League.I would not have thought that BRFC would have come out well from this survey. fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/fan-engagement-survey-says-still-room-for-improvment-april-2019

interesting post Igitur. Another area where we are off the pace?
I wonder if WAQ is waiting to find out if he's trying to sell a L1 or L2 football club?

As for 3 years, in football that is nothing, ask Lansdowne

Ashton Vale stadium PP granted 2010, legal challenges which we all know about delayed the project until it was abandoned in 2013. Monday Jan 19th 2015, no insulting talk about calls not returned or trying to shift blame or hide behind confidentiality agreements, on this morning the first heavy machinery arrives at The DSS Arena and starts tearing the old stadium down. How long now since UWE died a death? What do we have? Carry On Camping! Can't be arsed to look again right now but am pretty sure that the Mem footprint is very similar to Ashton Gate, it's all about having the desire and skill to deliver a new stadium.

Post-UWE I do not believe Dwane Sports have had any intention to re-develop the Mem or deliver a new Stadium (or even a Training Facility). Dwane Sports look like charlatans to me.
