The dreaded narrow midfield diamond style just worked a treat today, great team performance. Clarke-harris outstanding along with so many others. I disagree. The narrow diamond didn’t work. It created a dogs dinner of a match and unconvincing performance. We have certainly played much better this season and not won. Upson and ogogo had poor games. Upson was at the base of the diamond, anchor, water carrier, requires a simple pass, but his play making was erratic, Upson and ogogo would have had better games if they swapped and Upson played left narrow. Ogogo doesn’t look very good in his mem performances so far, today was his worst at coming off second best in battles and keeping possession. He just looks too slow now for league 1, clear verdict of robins. sercimbe at front of diamond worked very well, nico made a nuisance of himself all afternoon, but I did worry about his early yellow, someone had just gone through back of him and I think his blood got up. Jonno , I think preferable to Katrina was absolutely outstanding. If he didn’t score he would be my man of the match for holding the ball up to link colleagues into play and the flick ons that actually went near his playing partner one of which stunned nico in build up to first goal, it was probably the best pass Nichols has received in two years at the club. But he did score first hatrick of his career. If you keep player cam on him, he’s got an intelligent brain and a disciplined humour always sneaking into pockets of space. I genuine don’t think that was a great team performance or good game. But considering where they are and the pressure on them, it’s been a fantastic day for Bristol rovers. Well for me it did work and i thought ogogo was outstanding.

I especially enjoyed the last six posts. But why do Rovers only win when I don't fly?

Just got back! Haha! This lifestyle isn't doing me any favours.
What a difference a week makes. Pre match I was concerned and the talk was all of four central mid players picked.... where was flanks?
I thought notably Ollie and Upson were great, with Ogogogogo battling, our mid coped well with the physical battle. This is where the battle was won. This is where the catalyst of the game was won. Also, our basics were so much improved with close control, breaking down moves, holding up play and actually completing our passes. Well done. THD was brilliant and my m o m in waiting.... he's setting standards way above where we are in league, and Brown who?.
Now for the jewel that is JCH. Not just the hat trick, but it's what we've been screaming for....a big guy who can handle himself up front. My m o m and probably everyone elses. He uses his upper body strength to effect and played a classic centre forward role. I have to say he was ably supported and encouraged by an in form Nichols. The best game I have seen him play, his link up and keep the ball moving, mostly forward, made for a great game. I hope we've found a partnership up front. There seemed to be a bit of chemistry there.
Locks and Craig were again great at preventing direct threats against two bigger guys up front. Bonham made a few saves, which meant we didn't always have it our own way.
Ok, no disrespect to Blackpool but a different outfit than Sunderland...we ruthlessly dispatched a team at home for the first time this season. We need a few more performances like that to keep our 3rd division status.
Well done. Don't give up. UptheGas!

Picking up second phase balls was the simple difference. Flicked on and Nicholls had run beyond . Held up and Sercs was close by.
Also everyone put a shift in. Bodies on line blocking shots etc.

I try to avoid local rags' websites as they are full of adverts, videos and pop ups, but the headline of Blackpool's caught my eye and was along the same line as my way of thinking, as to me Blackpool were putting up no real fight after half time: Blackpool were miserable, they were feeble and – this is not something I say lightly – they looked like they had given up...Read more at: www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool-fc/for-the-first-time-blackpool-looked-like-they-gave-up-matt-scrafton-s-verdict-on-bristol-rovers-drubbing-1-9626582I would have thought with the significant changes of ownership the team would have shown more spirit, they are close to the play offs after all. (Apparently deduction of points for going into administration is not automatic, I gave up trying to read the EFL regulations. It always has seemed to me to affect fans more than the owners anyway.)

Yayyy the double! Aggregate of 7-0. Done and dusted. Let's hope for some more, especially Fleetwood at least.
Here's the bemused Blackpool manager with fair comments and no excuses:
And in the first match this season away, here's the bemused Blackpool manager with fair comments and some excuses (!):
Enjoy..
