Just didn't see that coming. I'm happy to apologise for my pre-match pessimism. 😀

Shame Oxford had to win, but we've still got a game in hand.

Why take off JCH ? His goals have all been in the 6 yard box and he sounds like the fox in the box we have needed for a long time. We should be going for the kill in my opinion. I am not there BTW so don’t know if he has taken a knock or not Yes he took a knock to the shin/ankle

4-0 gave us a minus two goal difference. But with Oxford winning we remain placed 21st. Finally, however, we have a centre forward. It'll be interesting where he goes this summer.

I am not there BTW so don’t know if he has taken a knock or not He got flattened by defenders whilst smashing the 3rd goal in near the post after their keeper had palmed a shot away. He tried to carry on but sat down a couple of mins later. No ice pack or anything, so hopefully nothing serious. More of a worry was Nichols, started chasing a ball and pulled up holding the back of his leg. Odd game, we could, and probably should have let in 4, but probably should have scored 6. Blackpool are a bit mental, 3-0 down, the game is gone but they played like it was 0-1, I don't know if they were unlucky not to score or very lucky it wasn't 6+. Looking at the table, we would be in a world of trouble had we not won that.

Thanks fella BTW, it'll sound odd, you don't score 3 and not win MoTM, but if I were awarding it and could share it, Nichols would get half of it, he was everywhere, never stopped and made the first 2 goals.

4:45am here and I'm wide awake following a struggling third tier football club. Sad, but it's what football and The Gas does to you. Are you up late or up early? Awake early, fell back to sleep at half time only to wake up again thinking at 4-0 I must be dreaming. Brilliant result. I reckon 14 points are needed to guarantee staying up. That 14 points in 12 games. Doable in my view. COYB

Agree. Nichols was brilliant today. Good team peformance all round. JCH was a handful and can certainly hit a ball.

Tom Nichols magnificent today, as was JCH obviously. 11/10 for them both. 2/10 for Partington, 4 for Upson. 10 for the rest. Mint.

First hat trick for a Rovers player today by Clarke Harris since Ellis Harrison on 7 Jan 2017 v Northampton Town when he scored four goals.

High marks for ref as well today. Not so sure about that. Missed a blatant elbow by Tilt in the first half and a wild tackle by their right back went unpunished as well.

Felt good about today, didn't know why but it just felt positive walking up to the Mem.
Johnson Clarke-Harris played like a man possessed, won everything and took enough knocks to put Akinfenwa on the sidelines. 2 goals from excellent positioning and 1 from instinctive poaching, had absolutely nothing left in the tank when he went off. Gave 100%, notably so did Nichols, Ogogo, Sercombe and Holmes-Dennis. We actually had a competent ref for once and look how the lads performed when the game was allowed to flow.
Not sure who the angry goblin was on the Blackpool coaching staff having a go at Clarke-Harris at 1-0, that was a highlight for me. Also a lovely touch having guest Steve Elliot do a lap of appreciation, very well received and rightly so for his service back in the day. Those who started today with pessimistic concerns - keep the faith. UTG

He'd scored a hat-trick every week then. JCH gave him a lovely smile as he came off, but fair play, they shook hands at the end.

The dreaded narrow midfield diamond style just worked a treat today, great team performance. Clarke-harris outstanding along with so many others.

Doesn't matter as there are plenty of teams within striking distance. The season doesn't end tomorrow and for all we know Oxford will be comfortably safe anyway by then (and so, hopefully, will we) so this is just what the Doctor ordered. If we can beat Scunny next week we could put 3/4 teams between us and the relegation zone - that's a much bigger prize than temporarily getting out of it. Huge result in terms of giving us the confidence to put the necessary run of home results together....

It created a dogs dinner of a match and unconvincing performance. We have certainly played much better this season and not won. Upson and ogogo had poor games. Upson was at the base of the diamond, anchor, water carrier, requires a simple pass, but his play making was erratic, Upson and ogogo would have had better games if they swapped and Upson played left narrow. Ogogo doesn’t look very good in his mem performances so far, today was his worst at coming off second best in battles and keeping possession. He just looks too slow now for league 1, clear verdict of robins. sercimbe at front of diamond worked very well, nico made a nuisance of himself all afternoon, but I did worry about his early yellow, someone had just gone through back of him and I think his blood got up. Jonno , I think preferable to Katrina was absolutely outstanding. If he didn’t score he would be my man of the match for holding the ball up to link colleagues into play and the flick ons that actually went near his playing partner one of which stunned nico in build up to first goal, it was probably the best pass Nichols has received in two years at the club. But he did score first hatrick of his career. If you keep player cam on him, he’s got an intelligent brain and a disciplined humour always sneaking into pockets of space. I genuine don’t think that was a great team performance or good game. But considering where they are and the pressure on them, it’s been a fantastic day for Bristol rovers.
