Warning....This is hearsay
A friend of mine has a son who plays in rovers under 14 academy team. He and his parents have been given notice that all bristol rovers academy operations will cease after the current season is over.

About that it's (allegedly) being scrapped and your mock shock? Or that Vertigo started a hearsay rumour that reflects negatively on our owners?

If you know anyone, who has kids in the youth teams then you would have heard it. Very hard to take as I remember how I felt just getting into the trials. We will lose the interest of the younger generation and it’s very sad to know this

Crikey - I didn't realise it was that bad.

OK, they aren't a PL team, yet, but Lansdown will carry on chucking money at it until they are. Makes me feel quite unwell, but that's the reality of it.

After years of them smashing up our ground, burning it down, chasing our players off the pitch. Biggest bunch of assholes on the planet and they s**t a golden egg. If it was a usual rivalry, fair enough, but they have been a really vile bunch over the years. Still, nobody will recognise this. Some media people don’t realise they are not Bristol Rovers and give them the “rags to riches” tag, despite the fact they’ve had a revolving door of money men for decades and their current asshole in chief is one of the richest men in the UK, who has bought them to where they are, and a lot of clubs have gone places on a fraction of what he’s invested

I now try, very hard, not to feel hatred for anyone and because it changes nothing but makes me ill. In his case though, I make an exception as he has shown not just a venomous side but it’s patently obvious he truly wants us gone. The 💩 wouldn’t know what to do if we ceased to exist. I never cease to be further shocked by their obsession with us & even when they are doing well. I wonder if he understands that he would not get a seachange of support, not from us older lot anyway ? He will, however, continue to have a clear run at the younger support. 💩 fans would do well to understand that this is a fickle man and, having turned coat on us, you just could never be certain of his continued backing.

Don't agree, this has become the Mother of all vanity projects. It could be any location, any football club, but he won't stop until it either gets too expensive trying or he achieves his ambition of having a PL football team. Meanwhile, to Wael's shame, in BS7, this appears to be the extent of our owners' ambition; Attachment DeletedSome things don't change though. 1982 supporters having running fights with Swansea's finest in our City centre yesterday.

I am looking forward to the spin that tells us closing the academy is somehow good for Rovers.

The question remains: what kind of dork buys an unwanted football club?

The question remains: what kind of dork buys an unwanted football club? One who thinks that he's going to make a killing on a stadium deal whilst indulging his Son's fantasy of being involved in professional football?

Give youth a chance EG Ollie Clarke, Tom Lockyer, Donovon Wilson, Matt Macey, Alefe Santos some we have produced from our Youth Academy.
I am guessing the cost of producing one Lockyer does not warrant the cost?
Bet BCFC and Southampton are delighted as gives them scope for more young players for their Academies.

I do know rule changes which favour big clubs has led to some clubs axing their academies.

If Rollin and Kelly make it, there is an argument for picking up late developers released by other academies!

Think current contracts are a bigger worry. Rollin signed a new one Jan 2018, no length published.
Apart from newbies, who is signed up for next season?
