This exposes dick heads like Bridgeman, who's been claiming all along he's in the know, for the idiot he and his ilk are Really?? Perhaps I missed it, but I can't recall Bridgeman ever saying he was in the know. To put it more precisely, he was always first to lambast anyone who was genuinely in the know and warned this was going on behind the scenes - usually with abuse, so he can have some back. There's someone on the she'eds forum called Kid in a Riot who's been in the loop all the way through this and has regularly update with correct info well in advance of it being made public. He was the most recent to be shot down by this clown. So angry this morning.

I believe this press release. It sounds about right and is backed up by recent evidence. Of course you would. No disrespect, but after all the negative posts about the board, you are hardly going to come out and say no I'll leave it till we get some official news. It's that "band wagon" yet again that quite often comes through here... After the recent years of failure, the whole UWE project falling apart would be consistent with the Boards record. Would'nt it.

I really, really can't wait for the start of the season, I'm going to enjoy it, win, lose or draw, every game, because if we don't get the UWE it could be amongst our last, but unlike some, I'm just waiting for the silly season to stop, look forward to the footie, and take the bad news as and when it comes!!

Yeah, this is doing my head in. I feel like it's probably best to just take each game as it comes, and enjoy the football when we can. Everything else will just happen (or not) in its own time without this interminable internet saga going on.

Where is our very own `man in the know` Henburygas when you need him. The sad thing is I really had genuine hopes of this deal with UWE coming off. Well virtually nailed on in fact. I fear if this Stadium doesnt come off then a new Stadium never will considering the partnership with UWE and Rovers previous attempts.

seems now at the end of the day that the only people who are going to gain a victory out of this mess are the likes of the green party,Carstairs,Trash,Rose..they have lost there battles but look set to win the war
i always said i would not believe we had a new ground until i was sat in it watching a game and now that seems as far away as it has ever done...
i believe higgs &co had gambled with our league status by putting more effort and money into the new stadium and taking there eye off the most important thing, that being success on the field...

I'm with westcountrygas and bladder in that this could be a blessing. No secret that irrespective of Sainsburys intentions I've been critical of the whole UWE project and I won't bore anyone by restating my reasons. But consider the upsides of Sainsburys pulling out and compensating us with a yet unknown sum but enough to allow us to refurb the Mem. We still own the improved Mem with the chance to sell it in the future. We can concentrate on football matters and getting back into the FL. We have significant money to invest in the playing staff...the first time in my lifetime. As the UWE was never going to be debt free we don't need to worry about servicing or paying off the debt. Maintaining a 22000 capacity stadium that would rarely be full would be hideously expensive.
I see many benefits and few if any downsides to Sainsburys pulling out and compensating us.

So rather than running around like headless chickens, could someone with access actually tell us (precisely) what is said in the article.
I have my own suspicions about the motives of the author and the timing, but until we have seen what he has to say, wouldn't it be wiser to keep powder dry for a while?

Is there any actual source online?
That's not discrediting the original poster, I just want to see what was written in full with my own eyes.
Thank you.

I have my own suspicions about the motives of the author, but until we have seen what he has to say, wouldn't it be wiser to keep powder dry for a while? I HAVE seen what he has to say that is why I started this thread! If you think no one else should comment unless they have also read the article directly you should practice what you preach and go and buy the bloody paper! Whether you like the author or not (because he is a s***head) the Sunday Independent is the only paper worth buying now if you want an insight into what is going on in local sport. The jounalists that cover us (Richard Latham is the other) always give us more than what was said by the manager or chairman and are not frightened to stand up to the board as Latham did a few weeks ago for them failing to meet with the supporters soon enough after relegation. Anyway, I've paraphrased the main points for you in the first post and given a direct quote in another post if thats not good enough get off your arse and buy the paper. In the meantime the rest of us can debate the very worrying inference.

Seems Russell's just written an article based on posts on this forum, those he really have a source to say Sainsbury's want out, even if they do the contracts seem fairly watertight or they would have walked away already?
Either they pay us £30m for the mem now or millions in compensation, hopefully, giving us enough to redevelop the mem, which is probably the last thing Trash/local residents wanted!

If true and personally I believe it to be so, we have a board who have the worst record in football and in business for that matter. The outright lies, secrecy, BS and complacency are without equal. How I wish the idiots would collectively commit hara Kiri. They had a chance to sell to Darryl Eales too, he fronts some very serious investment. Why did they not let him but in ? Surely the best we can hope for is a pyrhic victory. Not since Eastville have I seen such an inept bunch. They fill me with the urge to defecate. The b'stards have systematically been killing our club while using it as their own toy Unforgivable. They never plan for the possibility of failure as we saw Twatola never did for relegation.
