It's stunning. I think there are more corrupt sports ruling bodies than the ECB. But I don't think there's a ruling body that shows such contempt for and so consistently craps on its core audience than the ECB or that seems so determined to live up to phrase 'know the price of everything and the value of nothing'. They are idiots - it's just extraordinary.

Well done irish, you’ve put it in three lines whereas I would probably have gone into a rant. You honestly couldn’t make it up what they are planning to do. On a similar theme on the BBC website is an article by Matthew Maynard about the inability of post 20/20 players to build an innings over three or four sessions. Its all linked with the short game format. It’s the most sense I’ve heard him speak over the past two years!

No I really don't think PP has been 'innovative' enough there. Surely the keeper should have to bowl a super over of 9 balls in full kit and wearing gloves - think about the opportunities that would create for the cross-pollination of digitial multi-media marketing strategies across the full range of platforms in order to generate a tipping-point of enthusiasm rates among the full variety of our diverse consumer orientated audience streams.......

15 eight ball overs Same amount of balls bowled but less changing ends. Take less time.
Or will bowlers be too tired bowling 8?

I propose 10 over cricket and everyone bar the 'keeper has to bowl one over I like the idea of that, but to add extra excitement if the batsmen get 'Numberwang' during their innings, then the keeper has to bowl an over to them whilst wearing pads & gloves.

15 eight ball overs Same amount of balls bowled but less changing ends. Take less time. Or will bowlers be too tired bowling 8? That's been tried. 8 ball Overs were very popular in Australian domestic cricket for years (I think they may even have played Test Matches under the format) and a lot of recreational evening leagues use it. It's nearly universally hated by players though because it's so unusual to work out the maths of what good figures look like, what is needed per over to win etc. The evening league I played in just voted unananimously to remove it from the rulebook as an option. People just absolutely hated it-I was amazed how strongly opinon was on it.
