Listened to the three gasheads and GT confirm their undoubted praise for DC and Ellis ...a few constructive remarks from the panelists with their thoughts on the ineffective Gaffney and Nichols plus to some extent Craig and Lockyer and their shortcomings.
They all forgot to appreciate the fact that while John Ward did not want the job after saving us from relegation he brought in his replacement in DC as his assistant to mentor him and he too was partly responsible for our exit from the FL. They gave the impression DC arrived for the last eight matches only and by then it was a lost cause. Far from it.
Many will say that's water under the bridge and we are in a better place now and indeed perhaps we are.
They all seemed to feel Ellis was given the chance only recently by DC forgetting he has been around since 2010 and has now gradually been an effective player. One dissenting voice on the panel argued Sercombe has been our most consistent performer and is a serous challenger rather than Ellis as our player of the season.
Seems many fans ambitions do not match DC and they assumed DC could well be off to pastures new now his stock his high and we should be looking to recruit someone from the lower leagues -the Lincoln pair given as an example. It was agreed we were and always will be a selling club and the departures of Taylor and Bodin were proof.
Maybe we should be content but personally I expect far more.

Maybe the far more you seek will be achieved, just at a slower pace?
There is an argument to suggest too much too soon can be destructive.

See it's all in the ear of the listener. I didn't hear things the way you did Harry. eg - replacement manager discussion was hypothetical I thought. Ellis discussion was in relation to the player he's been this season.
Re DC - at the time it was strongly suggested on here that he was brought in by Nick Higgs, against John Ward's wishes.

Yes, the brothers have done really well at Lincoln with their cup run and looking for their second promotion in two years. But their tactics are very much long ball. They will get it into the box as quickly as possible aimed at a big number 9. It has been very successful and the results have been very good. But have no illusions they don’t play Eddie Howe passing style football, nor are they similar to the way DC likes to play football. Very different and it’s interesting to see what supporters think, would they want good passing football like DC tries to do or long ball up to a number 9 like the Cowleys at Lincoln? UTG!

It is water under the bridge and we are in a better place, no perhaps about it, you appear to indicate otherwise.

If or when DC moves on then at least there is far better infrastructure and support for his successor. Each year DC is here, and with each year the ALQ's are investing more in the structure of the club, then losing a manager will not seem as great a deal than at any other time in the past. I cannot foresee the ALQ's allowing any incoming new manager to bring their staff and entourage with them as has been the norm in football. DC is a rare manager in that he will fight for his players, publicly, against the owners if they cannot support his quest for achieving continued success. That's partly why the group are committed to DC and will play for him.
