from the Beeb; 'Southend goalkeeper Mark Oxley made fine saves to deny Bodin, Harrison, Lee Brown and Tom Lockyer as his side were outplayed for long periods.'

Lockyer tormenting Ranger at the end was worth turning up for by itself Hilarious wasn't it. left him sat on his arse. Sent to jail for conspiracy to defraud (£2000 stolen from a Woman's bank account), also pleaded guilty to common assault in 2013. Scores a penalty earlier this season then holds his boot like a gun and mimes shooting the opposition supporters. Confesses to using cocaine and MDMA after a random drugs test in Jan of this year. Been fined by the FA for making homophobic comments. Charged with being drunk and disorderly. Fined for criminal damage. Yuk! What kind of football club would employ him?

He also gifted Sercombe his goal at the end. Partington did play in the holding midfield role throughout and was very good, it allowed Sinclair to buzz about (winning everything) and Sercombe to get forward. To be fair though, it was made easy by virtue of the fact Southend weren't really trying.

Billy Bob was class once again. Keeper made two superb saves to deny him a hat trick. Did an impressive post match interview on radio Bris. An intelligent young man. Sincerely hope he is not going to Cardiff City.

What another brilliant team performance!?
This is more like the Rovers we know can play like.
Worth noting we easily beat a Southend team that do have ability, yet chose to exhibit a hideous kamikaze side to their game, offering hardly anything in attacking prowess and almost completely impotent.
Positives... Team.....we created triangles, movement off the ball. Supported and covered. Tracked back. Created spaces in flanks. Passes met their man. One touch football. As dominant a performance as you'll see largely because:
Bodin. M o m....perservered for his goal. His control, close dribbing and space creating was classic. No co incidence we look sharper, more up tempo, options in attack and generally more balanced and dangerous when he's on form. A true gem. I'm making the most of him because he's too good for mid table third division football, and he's a joy to watch.
Partington role....he plays it perfectly. Lines and Ollie couldn't play that position to any effect, it's the masterstroke we so desperately needed. He gives the defence vital time to get organised and gets forward to support attack at set pieces. Fast becoming essential, as he's versatile anywhere in defence.
Sinclair. For me, my second m o m. He won everything, even with his head! How tall is he compared to his contemporaries? His heading use has to be noticed! Where are all you lot who said he can't play at this level? Hello?? Sinclair is now more disciplined in his tackling, more focussed in his approach, whilst still having the engine to feed the midfield pulse. In one move, he tracked Cox back on the counter, and then when that move broke down got forward to support Sercombe for a shot...the days of Ollie and Lines may be in jeopardy.
Ellis. Nuff said. Again another candidate for m o m.
Ref. Largely played well today, not a dirty match but handled everything correctly including retrospective yellow card for foul.
Negatives... Nile Ranger. Horrible. Locks made him look the fool he is. His manager must take some of the blame there, he directed NR to Locks when we had a corner inn obvious attempt to exploit (his perceived) weakness. Thanks, Phil!
Crowd clapping with gloves on hardly makes any noise! Man up, Gas..
And so we move onto Gills away. They lost in Devon today. Dare we dream of 3 consecutive wins? One thing worth noting: We are definitely reaping rewards from fielding a starting 11 that is largely unchanged. DC got it right today, Ollie has been off form and Gaff has been screaming to start. Logical. Makes sense. Next week might be a bit different? Who knows? But I think it imperative we keep a settled back 5, fitness permitting.
I think we've found our strongest 11. Maybe slocombe is my preferred keeps, but Smith hasn't made mistakes.
In dc we trust.
A good win today, well deserved, well done players and management, let's spring board this into something special. UptheGas..

Hopefully DC will spot that if you play the best three up front and not include your worst one, goals get scored.

Phil Brown, Scottish? Fact-free, indeed. is he not? I thought I remembered him on the radio, driving away from Roots Hall one time. Maybe that was another one. 'Fake news' - sorry! I think 'dour' might be a little bit unfair as well to be honest. I think there might be quite a lot of other criticisms of Phil Brown but I don't think dour is one - if anything he's too much the other way. Has a reputation as being a bit over excitable and prone to media stunts.

2 weeks running where we could have scored 7. Their keeper was outstanding, the rest of them were terrible. Everyone for us was superb and Billy is clearly too good for League 1.
That slow march to the play offs has gathered momentum.

Phil Brown quoted after that the players weren’t playing for him and you can smell these things in the air. He also said he hoped he would still be manager in a week. He sounded shot

Phil Brown should have done his half-time team talk on the pitch. He is doing a fair amount of media work, so perhaps his mind is elsewhere.
