For anybody who hasn’t watched the interview yet, Don’t! That was like sticking needles in my eyes and ears. And scrotum...

Have I missed something? The interview looks like a normal interview with a guy who isn't good at public speaking and whose first language isn't English. The only things that I've read on here seem logical guesses at best or the kind of thing that a drunk would shout on the night bus when shaken awake by a pot hole. I really don't get what hard evidence anyone has.

Keith tried to press Wael on timescales and firm detail but clearly Wael was either not able or perhaps wisely decided not to promise too much in case he is outed later if time scales are not met.
Seems a long time ago now the said Wael was carried to the Vic by ecstatic gasheads to celebrate with DC and Yates.
I am as disappointed as everyone at the collapse of the UWE project but please give the Club owners a little more slack.

I have to say that I have more sympathy with this point of view than a lot of the hardline criticism of the majority of posters. As I said previously, IMO the interviewer was so poor in that no fresh information was pressed for or received. I believe that Wael's poor response was mainly caused by his discomfort at being asked such stupid questions, with no follow up on the key issues. If the questions and answers were preconceived as is often the case, then why do the interview at all!! Because it did more damage than the silence which we are used to! The problem for the owners and for those of us who have the club at heart is that rumour mongering is on fire! I'm sure Wael will be aware that something needs to be done to release information which puts the scuttlebutt to bed. A sensible statement of where we are and where we are going with a few sensible details chucked in, is required without further delay. The lack of publicised information regarding these issues has created an unacceptable situation. So let's hope that Wael is able to bite the bullet!

Give Keith his due, he did elicit some new info, refurbished toilets and a new club shop (another port a cabin in the car park?) 😂

Whilst they both know where we are (stuck in Horfield with a pretend plan to re-develop the Mem) - they would appear not to know where we are going. We have no details - let alone sensible ones.

I think that the interviewer was probably given a list of question that he was allowed to ask,I don't blame him,Waels last interview was just as bad.
Maybe someone told him that he had to say something after DC's interview last week, but he cant really say 'we really don't have any plans or even any clear idea of what to do next' even if that is the truth.

I read all the posts here then watched the interview and I think people just need to settle down a bit. I interview people on camera all the time and generally you share the questions with the interviewee before hand but you don't let them script answers, it's too false and the audience just don't buy it. The interview isn't helped by the fact that the interviewer should be nearer to the camera so Wael would be looking more directly forward and to the right of it. As it is it makes the interview appear more uneasy than it really is.
In my opinion all you are hearing is someone honestly answering as best he can without having practiced model answers. He says the big plan for the Colony will be built progressively, he says that the mem facilities will be upgraded in the summer; bars, shop, bathrooms - things that will make for a better match day experience and generate income, what's wrong with that?
Rightly so people are disappointed about UWE and our current form and the fact that the s**te are doing well on and off the field, it's the perfect storm but I dont understand the hysteria and I don't believe he has to come out and deny every rumour on the internet.

If the club shop is moved then hopefully that means no future potential problems accessing the shop on match days - and hopefully a bigger store too.
Then maybe the space left under the Dribuild means the ground floor bar can be extended.

Keith: If Darrell were to get the players in to be able to make an assault on the top 6 or automatic promotion the ground isn't really fit for purpose is it ? What comes first ? Wael: No, I mean, eventually, you tell me, I mean, huh, huh, huh.

Wael: No, I mean, eventually, you tell me, I mean, huh, huh, huh. Well done, it's an awful question and you paraphrased a small part of the response to a follow up question and not the part that actually matters, Wael goes on to say "it's a balance between the two", this follows the evolution ethos and one most would agree with. It's easy to paraphrase and not give proper context, see if you can guess who said "To me, spending £2 million on this would be a mistake when that money, if used wisely, could turn the club around completely." All well and good these great plans but with their reputation in tatters regarding payments for other work they may find it very difficult to get anyone to do it and if they do will pay through the nose for it

The only concrete detail I am aware of is that the Colony will open on July 1st 2019. There is no detail whatsoever pertaining to the Memorial Stadium redevelopment (because I believe that is a figment of Wael's imagination). We have a bit of non-specific waffle about moving the shop and applying a lick of paint to the bogs and bars. Not good enough. Details are good. They deal with things that are deliverable in the future. They give me some confidence that there is actually a plan.As others have noted - why would we upgrade current facilities when the alleged plan is to knock down everything and piecemeal redevelop anyway? We haven't been given any details. Because they patently don't have a plan, and have been treading water since August 3rd.

of course the flipside is if they have no intentions, or no plans and Hani is a tight arse, why spend any money at all

So if Wael came out and said "We plan to rebuild the Mem in stages and could take upto 10 years with a projected start date in 5 years" would that make people happy ?? No. Because a 5 year start date would imply they haven't got any funding in place. Why would we have to wait that long? If they said that they were going to start the redevelopment in (say) May 2019 with an intention to complete by 2024 - yes I would be happy with that. So that would give 18 months to finalise the plans - go through the planning process and overcome other issues. If their intent was real and they weren't ready to start then (for whatever reason "these things take time") - then I would understand. And if work started in May 2020 - fine. That's 2 1/2 years from now folks - I am a patient man, as are most Gasheads. The thing is - there is no evidence whatsoever that they are serious about redeveloping the Mem. Who are the team responsible? They've built 12 stadiums apparently. What stadiums exactly? What are their names? Did they started work as soon as the UWE collapsed? What preliminary plans do they have 4 months later? I'm not asking for a huge amount here. Just some tangible evidence that things are actually moving with regard to the Memorial Stadium redevelopment. A lick of paint in the bogs and bars and re-positioning the shop next summer doesn't really do it for me. We have had new owners for 21 months. On the pitch - I salute you Darrell Clarke. Off-pitch improvements??? Well - Wael is more polished than Nick Higgs and err... we now have a field (that Dwane Sports owns), a marginally better Development Team, and a very large wage bill (that we don't spend on players). And despite average gates of around 9,000 (last season and this one so far), we're still losing circa £1mil a year. Some people are happy with that. I'm not.

Great question. What is the budget for the upgrade of current facilities in the summer? £1,000? £10,000? £100,000, £1,000,000 (LOL)? Maybe if they said what they were going to spend and where they were going to spend it - that would placate people. Right now - looks like a throwaway comment to keep fans off of their back and give Dwane Dibbly Sports breathing space for another 7 months.
