Slocombe
Parts Lockyer Sweeney Brown
Clarke Sercombe Lines
Ellis Bodin Gaffney
Smith, Sinclair, Nichols, Telford, Bola, Broom, Broadbent
Famous last words but very pleased with that line up. We could potentially have a gaping hole on one wing but I think that's the best 11 we have available to us and the 7 best back ups on the bench.
Argyle include Bliss and Sawyer from the start. Not bothered about Sawyer, but hope Bliss gets a good reception.

hope Bliss gets a good reception. me too I also hope that he has kicked on as a player since we last saw him (he probably has as he's L1 now), though that he doesn't show it today

Great opportunity to restore confidence against a lowly but dangerous and vocal Plymouth.
I think we'll have too much for them.
Not sure about Chinese, but if we defend kamikaze, then we'll masters of our own downfall....if we can keep it tight, I'll punt for a two goal coasting victory..
Maybe.. 3-1 Ellis and Lines show. Jervis reply.
9123 crowd.
COME ON YOU BLUES! UptheGas..

Ok, we really should have been out of sight again with chances and disallowed goals.
Good win against a team that never gave up. Their support always come making noise in numbers and definitely added to atmosphere. They gave us a game and a few scares.
Even the away disabled shelter was over subscribed!
Positives.. Rory.....why not played more often? His goals to games ratio must be up there amongst the best this season. My first half m o m.
Ollie Clarke second half! Was everywhere. My 2nd half m o m.
Ellis again ran his heart out. Imo, took the wrong option on break when we had 5 v 3 and two free on left....but chose to take it on and get a man sent off!
Lines again made some great runs and some decent passes. Some did go astray though!
Their approach play ok, but woeful finishing cost them. Really like their no4. Looked a little like Ellis, won alot 50/50. Bliss....??....what a brilliant finish! Why couldn't he do that more often for us. Constant nuisance against us. I'm really happy for the big man, just not today v us!
Negatives.. I'm continually thinking Lockyer is an elephant in the room. Sure, alot of his distribution after man sent off was decent and turned swift counter, but another school boy error (which in previous post I referred to as kamikaze) in defence cost us. Almost dearly. Everyone has their line, but it's putting pressure on whole team with his individual mistakes that seem to be ruthlessly punished. I for one think he needs a bit of a break, so next weekend is a positive without his inclusion just to see an alternative pairing, only because dc sees him as un droppable.
Can't moan too much at ref this time or blame him for result! I thought all bar a few minor issues, he conducted the game and his performance excellently. Lino on west end, though....?
Nichols. What has he got to do to score? Feel for him. So unlucky. Valiant effort but it's just not working for him atm.
So we move onto Northampton. Honestly...i wouldn't be surprised at win, lose or draw up there. How often can you say that?
If we pair broadband and burn, maybe another disaster. I see them as a physical set piece threat. May Partington move in middle? With brown/bola flank? Keep pairing of Gaff and Ellis and maybe a chance of coup some points..
Great win today, Gas. Don't underestimate we had to work hard for that win.
Bye bye Derek Adams.. UptheGas!

I thought Plymouth were as poor a side as I've seen in League One since we returned. 9-1 wouldn't have flattered us today, and I didn't think we played that well. An enjoyable game, but we should have been out of sight well before the end. Remember this game next time somebody trots out the myth that we always lose to the bottom side

Without bombarding them there was some very good clear decisive moves and we had some glorious chances. Ellis continues to improve and although not on the scoresheet he created and was a good target man. When Nicholls came on I was convinced he was going to score, got into good positions, and I think once he notches he might become a regular goal scorer. Sercombe continues to look a very good signing. Plymouth were t the best but decent attitude kept going.
Enjoyed the game and 4or 5 wouldn’t have flattered.

We played some nice stuff in patches and obviously the sending off made things more open; but the points aside I don't take much pleasure out of today and I thought we were disjointed for long periods of the game and whilst Sweeney marshalled him adequately in the first half; Bliss caused Lockyer real problems in the second. I won't be too hard on the lads as they've played a lot of football recently and hopefully with a week on the training ground we can end our away day hoodoo next weekend.

Plymouth looked League 2 standard to me. Slow and cumbersome. We looked lively for large parts of the game apart from near the end of the first half and a period in the second half when we took our eye off the ball and started giving it away too much. We miss Sinclair in deep midfield where he protects the defence. He's the only one with a clean crisp tackle in the whole team. I reckon Nichols will score next match.

Not sure what has happened to Plymouth since last season, but they were bloody awful. Blissett nearly scored goal of the season, but otherwise was shocking. Their keeper was mint however.
As for us,14 nil at half time would have been fair. Ellis, Rory,Sercombe,Chrisy Lines,Partington and Billy Boy (who is far too good for this division), were outstanding.
Ref was one of the best we've had this year.
As always, the Plymouth fans were magnificent. I really hope they somehow stay up, because on today's evidence, they're goosed.
